  1. Are you at all able to get in true Altum Angelfish ??
  2. I agree with sucking on the output hose to start the siphon. Its what I need to do on my 405 ,and more rarely on my 305 as well.
  3. Eh ,sorry if my posts came across as a bit rude/mean ,I wasn't in the best mood and really need to learn to stay off the internet during those times :P But ya ,raise up to the temp to about 80 degrees ,fill the babies full of wormies ,and you should have a tank full of blooming bettas in about 1.5 months.
  4. Arg ,I was typing a long reply but deleted it. Temp should be around 80 degrees. There should be an air powered sponge filter on a weak bubble Male will keep eggs/fry in the nest until free swimming. Once they start swimming take him out. Also it seems like you know very little about spawning bettas. Its quite irresponsible indeed to breed without knowing how to raise the fry properly.
  5. So you decided to breed without even knowing what to feed the babys ?? Thats not very responsible. Don't bother with BBS ,just go pick up a microworm/banana worm culture. Brine cause all sorts of problems for small fry.
  6. I went through the same ordeal. I use tap water for my reef tank ,and everything is fine. I use GFO to keep algae at bay ,it works really well at removing phosphates. Also I just use a canister filter with filter sponge ,bio-blocks and water polishers.
  7. Ya ,females tend to stress bar up for a few days when ever you move them. I find the weird small females that you get from pet stores never really seem to grow or breed ,but get along really well with other bettas.
  8. Aquabid and shipping from asia = your best quality bettas If you even want to do a shippment let me know ,I can hop on the order with you to cut down on shipping costs.
  9. He's just a delta ,not a halfmoon. In that picture he looks like just a mutt mix of colors ,however a better picture under better light might make telling the color easier
  10. Tap waters fine. T5`s are fine for most softies and LPS ,I would stay away from SPS until you get a more mature tank. How many T5`s are you running ?? Nudibraches are doable ,however most of the pretty looking ones eat something hard to find within a tank ,or will get rid of it fast and then die (e.g. flatworms) No worry about phosphorous ,just add some GFO into the filter. If you on a budget base/marco rock is the way to go. No word on live sand as I keep sand-sifters to keep the sand looking pretty. Don't go getting any coral (excluding possibly zoas and mushroom) untill your tank is atleast a month and a half old and running steady.
  11. For honey Gouramis sexing is by color ,the fin difference between the sexs is minute. Males=red ,females=brown. As said ,breeding is like bettas.
  12. I speak from experience when I say that I have not noticed anythign between water conditioners ,but I've never done any fancy tests to check which one is best for bettas. I mean what do I know though. Its not like I've bred bettas for 3+ years and kept/bred all the fin types available with stock from out east ,locally ,and imported from thailand...Prime is my choice of conditioner ,and serves me fine for all my bettas ,from the smallest fry to the oldest adult ,from the hardiest 5 star plakat fighter to the finicky halfmoon plakat giants. Also you you want fancy tea leave extracts ,just use almond leaves. Also nanmer ,there's your problem. They are halfmoons :P Move them into a filtered heated tank in godspeed and they should be fully healed with 2 weeks. Halfmoons really need the heat and filtered water to stay in prime condition.
  13. What sort of betta is it ?? if its a halfmoon or is a halfmoon x whatever ,thats your problem. Back when I was breeding bettas ,the halfmoons would always get finrot to some extent. Same with my HM doubletails ,HM plakats ,Giant HM's ,and all that jazz. Sadly most of my breeding stock has been sold off or died ,so now I just have a single pair left. The female is a halfmoon ,who as figures ,was always fighting mild fin rot. Finally I got tired of it and just tossed the both of them into my planted community tank. Everything got fixed up and they now live happily with about 15 other fish of all species. Its the long fins that fist set them up for trouble ,it makes then prone to fin rot just having the long fins ,and if its a halfmoon its just "double trouble" for lack of better words. Edit : Betta water conditioner = sneaky marketing scheme. I use Prime for all my fish ,fresh and saltwater ,and it works fine for everything.
  14. She's a normal veil fin ,however she has some pretty nice color ,a red fin copper. She'll be a looker when she gets some size on her. If you every decide to sell her ,let me know ,I have a male CT with the exact same color :P
  15. ALso try soaking it for a while in garlic water ,they seem to like the softer pellets and the garlic stimulates the fishes urge to eat.
  16. Some betta people can get a wee bit....excited....at times. There are a few people on this site (myself included) who breed several types of fancy ,expensive bettas ,and we aren't as...excitable...as some other people on other forums
  17. Ya ,I keep a harem of bettas in my planted ,and they eat whatever the other fish eat. So mostly brine shrimp ,some flakes ,algae pellets once in a blue moon ,and sometimes I spot feed them betta pellets.
  18. Lol ,it should all be fine Heh ,if you think thats overstocked you should see my 25 gallon planted...
  19. 1-3 years on average for pet store bettas. The longest I've had one live was 4.5 years or so.
  20. So my freshwater tank had velvet ,and everything died. I am now going to convert it to a salt water tank. Can I just wash everything out real well ,and the marine conditions will kill any remaining velvet left over ,or do I still have to bleach and hyper-salinate everything ??
  21. Its velvet. It also killed half my fish over night :'(
  22. My cichlid tank is dying. Some sort of crazy super strain of ich is slowly kill my tank. Using nox-ich ,mala-fix ,salt ,and raised temps did nothing !!! My polleni then my true parrots are next to go from the look of things. How can I fix this ,if possible ??
  23. So my true parrots have ich and my Satanoperca have something aswell. I'm dosing the tank with nox-ich ,malafix ,and I added a bit of salt. Will this make them get better or make things worse ??
