  1. Yeah I frequent spenjacks list haha
  2. Sorry I don't have access to Centrals yet. Do you know someone local-ish who does? It hard to put together an order from the states when there is so little desire in Alberta for sa/ca
  3. Do you deal with Centrals at all???
  4. The mineral content of Alberta water is one of the highest in the country, possibly North America. Salt, aquarium salt, is sodium chloride (NaCl), which is part metal and part chlorine- no minerals there. This ionic compound is not normally natural in fresh water and it's even rarer in South American black water to which oscar evolved in. I am also yet to find any information anywhere as to how the continued use of salt in freshwater tanks is good for a fishes health. And brackish water or esterine water is salt water, but at a lower salinity than marine water. A mineral is a naturally occurring solid chemical substance that is formed through geological processes and that has a characteristic chemical composition, a highly ordered atomic structure, and specific physical properties. By comparison, a rock is an aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids and does not have a specific chemical composition. Minerals range in composition from pure elements and simple salts to very complex silicates with thousands of known forms. Under this definition I think salt classifies as a mineral. Salt isnt always made with a Sodium ion either. It can be MgCl2 such as what the main composition of the salt in the ocean is.
  5. A small amount of salt is natural in freshwater. Key word small. It is good for the fishes health, it mineralizes the water... Brackish is not salt nor freshwater, and freshwater fish will not tolerate it. I feed my 12.5" Oscar NLS pellets and massivore with raw prawn sometimes.
  6. Do what he says and get some phosphate remover. Put some of that in and completely darken the room your tank is in. Within a week the algae bloom should be gone.
  7. NICE!! I wanna see pics when hes all healed!
  8. did you check sil-silica? just off 17st & yellowhead Is this place a supplier of the 3M sand or is it just have play sand? I looked at the website, but to be honest I dont know what silicabicarbonatemonohydrate looks like haha.... Not an actual name by the way
  9. Man that guy if a beefster haha you feedin him babies or somethin hahahahahaha, I like him
  10. They're only like 1.5-1.75" right now Jay. I've had all within the last six months, and either sold them or moved one. I have a Dovii, 3 Umbees right now, and just lost my Hait a while back. I also have a 12 F0 Trimac my buddy has. If you want I can hook you up. I would definitely be interested in the Trimac and or a male umbie (if available). I am a couple of weeks away from being set up but once ready I would like to follow up. I'll have some more Umbee for sale in a month, I can get Trimacs too, I order them from Van. or Florida. What will you be asking for your umbies? How big will they be? I can get the Umbees for next week. I just need to know if you want the regular Umbee or the "Panamanian Green" variant. Your best guess is to order 5 to try and get a male. you have, or your buddy has? I own them Dakota, they're just at Brandons house. I'm down to 5 now, they've killed each other off and a few have gotten bloat. LOL IT'S QUINNN. HAHA just blame Quinn!!!!! HAHAHA
  11. I would not do another oscar, oscars don't tend to like each other and I believe you got lucky with your other two, adding a third is just asking for trouble.
