  1. The Bolivian rams get quite a bit bigger than the barbs, but if you have enough plants/hiding places then it might not be so much an issue. I personally just go ahead and try different combos, and if it doesn't work out I just sell/give away the fish that makes the tank not work. As for deleting threads...I don't think you can, unless you send a msg to one of the moderators, "Ask Moderator a Question".
  2. If you wanna go NLS, you can do the Small fish formula (.5mm) so they can actually eat it, unless you have the bigger ones, then you can feed them 1mm. NLS is what I feed my fish, and they're doing great on it. Most people i've gotten fish from on here also feed them NLS. A small container will last awhile...so if you don't have many fish try out the size that fits best with your fish.
  3. Yes, Endler, that's it. I could not find the bag and Cori had already gone to sleep. One of the many times I wish I knew more. I get the impression if we let them loose with the guppies we get sterile hybrids. While we are not looking to breed specificaly, having the tank self populate is a nice thought. Guess we need another 90..... I believe you are able to cross breed the two and they're not sterile...but there are some Endler enthusiasts that would wish you not cross breed, apparently the Endlers are endangered in the wild, and they're also a little more difficult to find in the city for a good price. The breeding will happen just by putting the males and females together, and i'm sure you'll find that the males will be ever so persistant in pursuing the females. To keep the fry alive, i'd suggest getting some riccia or java moss otherwise they become lunch.
  4. You can take a sample of your water to Big Al's and they'll gladly test it for you.
  5. Non Guppy Guppies?? Do you mean Endler Guppies??
  6. Were you at the auction today? I think there were some Koi Swords there?!
  7. Sunspot Brevis, plants, heater, flourish Iron, bronze cory's...sold more than I bought...which is good
  8. my issue is distance So it snowed like crazy for the Edmonton Auction, and it's snowing like crazy for the Calgary Auction...are we still going to have a turnout?
  9. I don't remember saying anything about mollies?? I think someone previous had an issue with a black molly though? I did see a post on Youtube.com though where someone had some 'Koi' Swordtails and they had a single black molly in a floating breeder tank. Maybe there's an issue with interbreeding between color phases? Not sure...I used to keep swordtails and mollies years and years ago...but i'm hooked on other fish at the moment.
  10. What a gorgeous Betta! Nice job on the scape!
  11. If you really want shrimp you can buy those Ghost Shrimp, they're larger, and much cheaper. They're definately comical to watch especially when they interact with the fish. If you really want cherry barbs, I know Pisces has them 50% off this weekend. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you might end up with some issues with room when your cories grow up...i've seen some albino cories get quite large, so 5 might eventually be too much. Not so much a problem if you end up setting another tank up and you wanna throw in a few there. Good luck on your "Koi" Swordtail hunt. They definately were a head turner when I saw 'em.

    Hey

:welcome: nice to have ya here!
  13. By the sounds of things, there will likely be a decent amount of plants, and it'll probably hurt you less in the pocket book at the auction than at the LFS...of course I could be wrong. I guess because it is an auction I am afraid I will pay more then I should for the plant. you know what I mean There's always that possiblity, so I suggest going to the LFS like Pisces or Big Al's and look at some of the plants they have there, check the prices and the quantities for that price. In Edmonton there were some pretty good deals for the plants, so i'm hoping that there will be some deals here in Calgary too.
