I cut the zucchini in half and then 1" chunks. I freeze it , then just microwave it for 20 seconds before putting it in the tank with the skin on complete with seeds. I have at least a 100 Albino fry going with no die offs. I also think there is a water problem that dose not agree with the pleco's.

I clean my XP3 sponges under tap water, clean ( shake basket ) bio in tank water and install new floss, every 4-6 weeks. Never had a problem.

I have 3 - XP3's, I like them with no problems at all.

Nelson, you would need a self priming pump to do what you show. Canadian tire sells one for around $75

I use a submersible mag drive pump with quick connect fittings on everything. Just only drop it to the level I need

You could also cover it with silicon and stick your substrate on it to blend in with the bottom of your tank.
