  1. Sex a pair of mini Mexican crayfish. They're cute and easy enough to get breeding. Decent penny for them too.
  2. It's all in the intial planning, I've only ever seen one store with a 100% independent drip system for its freshwater side, aquarium central. Where zero water is shared. We are fortunate enough at the store to be able to quarantine new fish off and treat them, without it spreading to other tanks, but not every store is going to be that lucky. And sometimes even our best suppliers send us fish that we have to take months treating. Though I will agree, we try our damn hardest to not sell sick fish, and treat them with the proper medications, as should our friendly competitors. Or anyone selling animals for that matter. Though on that same note, quarantine should always be done of an animal taken home, just because a store treats a sickness and it looks clear, doesn't mean the stress of taking things home won't make things rear their ugly heads. Fish diseases can hide for ages before showing any signs. If a fish looks healthy for two weeks, with no signs of infection, it seems reasonable to put it on sale, which things may pop up after taking them home, which how can we blame anyone for that? I think it needs to be a combo between store and keeper. The store to carry proper meds, and try to not sell sick fish ( stores make more selling you fish than meds, as dry good margins are terrible), and the keeper to quarantine before adding to main system.
  3. Bleach can be easily neutralized with prime if you were to go that route. A good rinse out and some prime, and you'd never know the difference.
  4. Phone auto corrected funny sorry.* Seachem has a black sand that you can use for plants, while still bein able to sift snails easily.
  5. Seachem Fluorite has a black sand that you can use for a planted tank still and easy shifting of snails. An some of the smaller loaches are kind of pretty patterned, like the kubotai or queen.
  6. If your headed into ac we have the checkers. I wouldn't worry to much, just keep and eye on them, and if you feel anything off about them shoot the store a call or shoot me a message. If they're a nice shape to you and they have a color you like, if you treat them nice and keep em well fed, they'll still be beautiful fish.
  7. Both their water after and before preping it have been quite high. Its nothing to take into real concern now if you are using prime anyways. It's just a heads up for people with more sensitive fish to not chinsey up on your water conditioners or you may run into some issues. Though personally I'm always adding a little extra prime for the added benefits anyways.
  8. Tuan the owner, nor torsten would take the time to send out the email if it wasn't worth a warning. There have been quite a few random die off come in after just regular water changes, and we've tested multiple times.
  9. Was just wondering if it was worth while money wise as well, gonna buy a new bottle soon, was gonna tinker some, though if the cost is equivalent, I may just look into making my own. Thanks guys.
  10. Just wondering the cost of shipping+ parts at the end, or if you have a slight estimate of total cost so we can gauge what your saving DIY, vs the 125$ Milwaukee dual stage unit readily available around.
  11. Not to toot my own horn because I work at aquarium central, but Tuan has been dealing with discus from a young age, and we take every measure possible to make sure they're free of disease. We land them in r/o and condition them over to tap over a 2 week period. During which the fish are dewormed and dehexed, and treated for any other conditions they may land with. Then at cost of good faith we give them weekly to biweekly feedings of medicine to keep them worm and disease free. If you have patience you can even wait a few months while they've been in the store while tuan pellet trains them for you. I highly recommend ac discus. They're a tad pricier but they're mostly from high quality breeders. And get babied.
  12. Lovely little buggers. Mine just bred. It'll be a couple months till they're big enough to sell. As long as everything goes right you'll see them for sale . If you ever need help with them just pm me.
  13. I got em from my work, Aquarium Central, if you give him a shout on here Tuan can probably ship some too you as well, fairdeal carrys some as well I do believe. They're from a local breeder here in alberta. I can post some pictures later if you want to see them showing off . Pricewise, the colbalts sell for about 29.99, the Marbled at 35.00, platinums I think were cheap at 9.99-12.99 or something but don't quote me on that at all.
  14. Hey JORG if you manage to find some let me know, I'd be down for a pair. I've been doing research and the german reds are a cross containing two recessive genes, lately breeders have just been dying blushings to get the red in the angels -.-
  15. Just recently picked up a couple blue marbled, platinums, cobalt blues from work, and have fallen into a craze. I was reading about angels and colour varietys and fell in love with the red colours on angels. Just wondering if the red varient is still around? And how one would go about getting his hands on some.
  16. Wondering where I can find a sealer for a cement background.
  17. Bichirs Are real fun. They have a nice albino Senegal at aquarium central that I use to own. He swims everywhere. You'd love him if he was still there :P
  18. I can't download the pdf my computer is being a #$%^er. I would love to attend this meeting though if it was possible, I've been looking to sign me and my better half up all month. I just keep forgetting to call Eugene >.<. I could bring the moola and such, and fill the forms out there at the meeting if that was cool?
  19. They don't add the air specially, when they tie the bag up oxygen from the air is generally cealed into the bag, to comment on that mini conversation going on in the thread. But to the real topic Rays's idea is great, use another filter that for sure works, also maybe throw in some lava rock so if the filter does break, you'll have more bio filtration in that little tank.
  20. I'd like 4-5 zebras if possible to add me to the hold list as well.
  21. Do you have any of those zebra oto's left? Im very interested in them.
