    Fluval FX5

I've been running a FX5 on a 125 gal cichlid tank since Jan. Have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever! I have cleaned it 4 times, it's never clogged. It really moves the water and sucks up a huge amount of gunk. No complaints here. I got mine for 280.00 online Canadian site.

    Noisy AC 300

Hmm appears a recall might be in order. Mine does it too, I use a bungy cord also. I don't have the little thing that keeps the filter off the tank. I put a household sponge between the filter and the tank. Soft and absorbs vibrations.
  3. I switched my cichlids over to NLS with no weaning off of the other food as well. Had no signs of bloat whatsoever. They took to it like crazy. I have a mix of peacocks, some mbuna and 3 haps.
  4. She is absolutely gorgeous!
  5. I have a question that may be off base here but you said your nitrates are 0, what are your nitrites? Maybe there is a nitrite spike? Usually a cycled tank shows some nitrates.
  6. Oh I almost forgot, Bristlenose Pleco eating zucchini, 2". Cuckoo catfish (Synodontis multipunctatus), one of 3.
  7. Clown Pleco, he's about 1/2". Gold nugget pleco, about 4". Striped raphael catfish, 3".
  8. Funny this subject came up, I was wondering the same thing about one of my labs recently. This page shows a pic of that very color variation. Scroll down.
  9. All I can say is WOW! And I get accused of going overboard?!?

    Biomax

No IMO, you only need to rinse it out in tank water, when you do water changes.
  11. Pop eye is generally not contagious. Yes why are your nitrates 0?
  12. I wouldn't get fish from another lake. Keep with the mbunas. Or dither fish like suggested.
  13. I agree that those rocks wouldn't provide many hiding spots. I have fish that prefer both open water and hiding spots. The lavarock provides hiding spots, but I still have plenty of open water. I looked around here for rocks like that but was limited in what is available here.
  14. I like the first pic. Have you considered putting in any other rocks like lavarock? I love the way my lavarock looks in the tank and the cichlids love it.
  15. Very nic photos and tank. I love the white veiled angel in the first pic. And the discus are gorgeous!

  18. A pic of my 125 gal cichlid tank.
  19. Hi everyone, just new to the site. I have 4 tanks. A 125 gal cichlid tank, a 29 gal community tank, a 15 gal tetra tank, and a 20 gal with gouramis and mollies. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community.
