  1. only add as much salt as you siphon out on your weekly water change,i have seen it done too many times where some one does a 20 gallon water change on their 55 gallon aquarium then add 5 scoops of salt after their water change........they should only be adding 1.5-2 scoops at that point. also you only need salt in your aquarium when a fish is sick or hurt.. hope i helped
  2. i cant get any good photos at the moment. but i got 3female 2 male l200 highfin plecos from harold, really nice, and the males are huge
  3. welcome to AA.there are lots of very helpful friendly people on here. have a look in the pond section of this forum there is some really helpful stuff there, and if you have any questions there are alot of experienced pond owners on here that can help
  4. go to chuck testa hes the best lol....sorry off topic even more.....hes a famous taxidermist in the states.
  5. i have spixis breeding in multiple tanks, thaey are also all in tanks with breeding groups of differnt colored apple snails. no risk of the spixies eating apple eggs....... the only problem you will have with having a tank with spixies and apple snails is the need for larger weekly water changes. the reason for that is,once both types of snails start breeding they wont stop....you will eventually have hundreds of baby snails producing alot of poop and eating alot of food. also i was talking to a couple people at the auction, spixies are only plant safe if you supplement their diet with fruits and veggies occasonally(once a week minumum is what i do)....personally i have never had a problem with them eating plants......but i have always fed fruit and veggies often
  6. yup your right way more than 2000 pounds in my little room.....i was just trying to give an example of the weight i have
  7. as it stands right now until my construction is done. i have 18 tanks in one room......and 2 in another. in the room with 18 tanks there is 413 gallons or tank running.....no support underneath.... no problems.....i inspect my joists everyday or every second day because i am doing drop ceiling in the basement underneath the room at the moment. honestly i was going to support my floor but 2 of my friends(contractors) as-well as a third hired contractor said there was no need for the couple months i was going to have it setup........if it is a permanent setup with two thousand pounds(like my room). then yes i would look into a permanent bracing solution. i like ckmullin's first idea but i dont think you have to worry about a 80 gallon on one joist next to a foundation wall...but thats just my opinion ,people have called me lazy in the past,so dont hesitate lol
  8. sorry ahead of time...4 photos i used this stuff (photo below),works on rock/rock or wood/rock(its aquarium safe) this was one of my projects it says to wait 72 hours before putting it in water...i waited 5-6 days just to be safe
  9. do you make any home made food for your fish/shrimp/or snails? if you do i have a bunch of green calcium montmorillonite clay,it helps fish with parasites. i bought 2LB's i could weigh some out and give you a little bit at the sunday auction edit-looking at my meds i bought a bunch of SeaChem neoplex, kanaplex, ploygard and methylene blue, metronidazole powder, and praziquantel powder from kens fish if you need to buy any
  10. are you sure there is no red worms in the poop? alot of those symptoms are for callamnus worms. but it could be something i just have never encountered as well...... good luck edit- judging from the picture its not callamnus worms.....when my one tank had it their anus's were not that red. maybe feed it some pees....if it is constipated that would help

  12. i have never experienced this but i use playground sand in my cory tank maybe change out the substrate,it seems like alot of work but it may help the problem. but im no pro when it comes to corys so maybey wait for syno321 to jump in or someone else.
  13. lol..... i was going to say look for him in the back of the auction, probably wearing a leather coat....and i was going to mention you car is pretty recognizable. harold im ready for those l200 highfins, if you could bring them to the auction i would appreciate it alot.
  14. i agree Alberta aquatica should be easily accessible to new hobbyists that dont know about it. but i wouldent want it to become one of those large mainstream forums with a ton of advertisements on each page(i wont mention any names, luckily none are Canadian  ) and i find on those large worldwide fish forums everyone is very aggressive and needs to sound the smartest.... its is hard to find reliable people to trust when everyone is just name calling/arguing. im happy with albertaaquatica the way it is now,and i like the new changes they did. just my opinion though.
  15. welcome to aa,looking forward to seeing you around the forum
