Yeah fish go thru long periods without food fine. I'd rather them be hungry when I got home, then well fed and swimming in nitrates. That being said if I don't get someone to feed my xb he will take it out on his tank mates. If you could get someone to pop in twice a week to feed and check on filters you should be fine. You can spoil your fish when you get home. Very natural for fish to be boom or bust when it comes to feeding in the wild. I give my fish a few days every few months with little to no food.

Personally I think there is a market for it. Just the number of asian arowana in edmonton would help support it. I wish I knew about this when I Had my diablo red

Personally the ph tinkering is not worth the hassle in my opinion. Plus cgys water is pretty good for African cichlids. Maybe if you were trying to breed a difficult species. A stable ph is much more beneficial to the fish.

It's amazing how much algae a lil baby bn can eat.

Is he in a big enough tank? What are its tank mates? Have you tested the water?

My aro tanks gets 30 gallons changed a day no issues.

Try a few crickets if you are worried about him starving. Sometimes they take some time to adjust. I wouldn't worry for another week or two.

In my past experience parA guard has wiped out my filters as well. I find it a lil on the harsh side. Especially for ich. Post some pics if you can

Same thing happened to me. Haha the Rust never left. Bothered me so much I swapped tht tank out. I no longer use that type.

Haha I have a tip, give me one! Haha great fish only ever owned one in my life. Treat like a silver aro, and you could pm me a price. I couldn't house one right now to adulthood but I could grow one out.

I always bred them with shells. Easy to tell bc the mom won't leave the shell much
