  1. Looks awesome! Makes me want to get an Edge for my kitchen!
  2. I'm actually setting up a couple 50 gallons in the next week for the sole purpose of taking some of the larger cichlids off your hands, I hope you can hold on for that long!!
  3. As far as the ammonia goes, just make sure you properly cycle the tank and don't have ANY fish in there until the tank has stabilized. If you have some friends in the hobby that could get you some filter media or a hand full of gravel from an established tank, it would expedite the process. Good luck!
  4. I TOTALLY forgot I even started this topic! Really sorry about that! My wife absolutely loves Angelfish and Bronze Cory's, so that's what her tank is currently housing. She's got 5 Angels and 5 Bronze Cory's currently.
  5. Make sure to keep us updated on this guy, looks like everyone is pulling for him!
  6. I'm really excited to see them growing up! I absolutely love Texas Cichlids, one of my favorites. I have a 7-8" Texas Cichlid and he's always so interesting to watch.
  7. Any updates?? Let's see some pictures of the little guys!
  8. I kinda figured as much. Hopefully when they get a little larger somebody will be able to help me out. The guy at the LFS was using them as feeders and I felt the need to rescue a few of them.
  9. Hey all just wanted to show some pictures of my recently setup 33g with P. Saulosi's as well as a couple pics of my wife's Angelfish and a couple of pics of a few unidentified Cichlids in her tank that I think may be Rusty's. I'm just showing this third picture so that you can all see how colorful the Saulosi's are, can't take nice bright pics without blur for some reason.. And a complete picture of the 33g: And now the Angelfish: And finally, can anybody identify these little guys? They're about an inch long now. Thanks for looking guys! I know there's lots to move around in the tanks but I'm not planning on doing it until I move at the end of the month.
  10. Make sure to be patient and cycle your new tank properly, don't rush it!
  11. Aloha! Going good here, worried a little bit about my upcoming move and the subsequent stress it causes for my fish, but still pretty good!
  12. I love looking at these giant tanks with predator type fish that most of us will never get to keep. Keep 'em coming!
  13. That's awesome! I absolutely love Texas Cichlids. Does this mean you will have Texas juvies for sale soon? Or are you going to try and house them all?
  14. UPDATE: Since my last post, one of my larger Cory's has died while the small psycho that was ripping up and down the glass has calmed down.. *confused*
  15. Okay perfect. Was slightly worried about him. Thanks!
  16. Hey just a quick question here. I picked up 4 Bronze Cory's a few days ago and have noticed that one of them is constantly swimming up along the glass,. up and down, up and down.. Is there something wrong with him or is he just probing the environment? The other 3 are just munching happily on the bottom on their tablets.
  17. Wow, thanks for the quick responses. I had a few friends that were into keeping/breeding cichlids back when I was, but have since moved on from the hobby. I think I'm going to return the feeders to the pet shop or possibly feed them to my old Texas Cichlid that my mother kept hold of when I moved out 5-6 years ago (he loves to munch on feeders). Thanks again for the prompt responses.
  18. Hi, an extremely noobish question here. So I quit keeping fish about 5-6 years ago and at that time (to the best of my knowledge) the best way to cycle a tank was to get some feeder fish of some kind for a couple weeks or so to cycle a new tank properly. Well in the past week my wife and I decided to setup a new tank (just a 25g) and we went through the rigors of cleaning the tank as well as all the substrate and whatnot. Then while I was at work on Friday I asked her to go grab some feeder goldfish to cycle the tank properly. Well, since then, several of the feeders have died and drove me to the internet wondering what was going on. Didn't take me long to find out that fishless cycling is now the way to go due to the fact that the poorly cared for and inbred feeder fish that were once used to cycle a tank can "disease" the new tank and in addition it's inhumane to use them that way. Now I'm freaked that they've diseased my newly set up tank, although they don't seem to have any illnesses I can see. What should I do here? Just return them to the pet shop as soon as possible and start a fishless cycle? Or ride it out? Additionally, should I be worried about a "diseased" tank or just attribute the feeder's deaths to the fact that they were poorly kept at the pet shop and where they were bred? P.S. Sorry about all the text, and don't worry, I will be going with fishless cycles from here on out!
  19. That's an unreal deal. At all the local petshops it costs double that for plants in even the poorest shape. /jealous
  20. That's unreal, never seen anything like that before. Really sorry about reviving an old thread but I'm new here :P
