  1. For the record: I don't mind pond snails at all. Some people are incredibly anal about NO pest snails in their tanks but I have no problem with them.. Does it really bother people to have a population of snails in their tanks that controls potential harmful waste in the tank? Oh oh, and they're FREE.
  2. Place a piece of zuchinni or something in the tank overnight, in the morning it'll be covered with pond snails. Then just discard the chunk.
  3. http://www.aquatraders.com/LED-Aquarium-Lighting-Freshwater-Bright-p/56284.htm 48" Beamswork LED, I have it on my 120, it's awesome! Pictures please!
  4. Just what I was thinking too, probably only needs to be fed every second day... If that.
  5. Holy! More pics please! Also, where'd you pick him up and at what size did you get him?
  6. Awesome thread for ideas on lighting small aquaria. +1 for cfls though.
  7. I'm all over monsterfishkeepers as well, plenty of knowledgeable members with rays. Any more pups lost?
  8. I'd love to help him with his culling problem though!! I always have hungry fish.. *cough*
  9. Ember Tetras, Rams, Corys... Sounds like an awesome planted tank idea. Could also check out some Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish! Are you going to be at the next auction to pick some of this stuff up or what??! Didn't see you at the last one.
  10. Hey Rob, these guys look awesome! I can't believe how many pups you ended up with. I'll have to swing by and see them some time soon. Jeremy here by the way.
  11. 6 Demasoni's in a 30g would probably be just fine assuming the filtration is good (300gph+). To limit aggression in an African (and even more so in an Mbuna tank), it's all about OVER-stocking to spread out the aggression.
  12. Some cichlids aren't tolerant of any plants whatsoever, I had a rock heavily planted with anubias and placed it in my 150g. It didn't last a week, every leaf was eaten.
  13. I would just keep a male and a small harem of females (or just go pick up half a dozen)! That'll fill up the tank nicely. But if you're set on going with one Demasoni and one Yellow Lab, I'm certain that would work as well.
  14. Wow. Does your friend sell his/her paintings?
  15. I also run canisters, hobs are just a much cheaper option is all.

  17. That's freakin' awesome! When I glanced at the pics before I read your post my first thought was "FLORIDA GAR!" Really cool looking catfish you've got there.
  18. And bear in mind that this is on the low end of the spectrum! I have at least 8-10 times turn over per hour in all my tanks. Petsmart has Aquaclear 110's on sale for 71.99 right now, add one of those to what you've got right now and you'll be laughin'!
  19. Ok here you go: cichlid, cichlid, cichlid, angelfish, angelfish and guppies. Sorry no cories this time as we were cleaned out at the CAOAC show. You forgot to input that they're all AFRICAN Cichlids... Nothing for us CA/SA guys hardly!
  20. Yeah that's the first time I've heard of the freezing trick, going to make my own after all! Will post results.
  21. What do you use to way it down then? I want them to have a uniform look to them. I'm not sure what chunks you're talkin' about! Loving these suggestions. The sponge filters will be going in my 240 to help with biological filtration, hence the large size i'm looking for.
  22. Thanks for the replies everyone! And Jvision, I need at least 2 of the same type so trading for yours won't really work out I guess sadly.
  23. Anyone know where to order large sponge filters online? When I say large I mean 6"+ in diameter and at least 6" tall (not including lift tube). I found this on ebay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/OCEAN-FREE-JUMBO-BIOFOAM-180-GALLON-LARGE-SPONGE-FILTER-/200562249715 but the price with shipping for a couple of them is kind-of excessive. Thanks.
