  1. I don't think they climb the glass, more like the silicone in the corners but they can also get frightened when they're near the top of the water column and do the shrimp backwards scoot and out they can go.
  2. Aysha used a syringe full of vinegar for her majanos death sentence. Seems to have worked like a charm.
  3. I haven't recharge mine but it came in a seachem bag that isn't supposed to be opened. Not sure what your bag is like but this one feels fairly heavy-duty.

    Hob Vs Canister

I've got a fluval 206 canister I absolutely love and its quite reasonably priced. I'd say that my canister is quieter than my wife's aquaclear hob but different brands may be louder.
  5. Admission to convention is free or ? Sounds like fun, hoping to be there with bells on.
  6. Wish I could have made it but the day after getting married I was beat and for some reason my wifey put an exnay on a road trip before our big road trip to the states lol.
  7. I think I like #3 the best but #1 is nice too, both have an epic sort of look. Is that a store bought tank or a custom? I love all-in-one nanos and that looks like a really nice one.
  8. LA has at least one biggish ADA store and a bunch of smaller places, I've got a list here somewhere.
  9. I'm going to LA, San Diego and San Fran... I suspect if I come back with plants they'll probably be from one of the many many LFS down there and probably labelled/packaged as such. Going to call on Monday first thing and hope I don't have to wait on hold more than an hour lol.
  10. In my experience (observation only) its cheaper and easier to declare everything. Border services are nasty... Hell, I think I have an aunt that Works for em, should ask her, but shes mean.
  11. I'm leaving for the United States in a week and I'd just like to ask if anyone is familiar with the permits required to bring back aquarium plants in personal usage quantities. Failing that, who do I call, Border Information or Canada Customs and Revenue or Canada Food Inspection Agency?
  12. Aquarium Central suggested I dose EM, Erythromycin and it'd nuke the BG. Since hearing that I've read the same thing a few times but haven't tried it. In my fiancee's tank we've been dosing Excel and Nitrogen with lots of water changes and wiping plants clean whenever it starts to build up and I think we are winning.
  13. The inside of the ribbed grey stuff is 1/2" but the white/grey slip connector that connects the tubing to the aquastop valve is 5/8" or it was on the 2-3 205s I've seen. If you boil the 1/2" you might slide it on but I'd rather not force such an important connection.
  14. Fluvals use 5/8" or 17mm Some of the X04 series use smaller
  15. We use tap right now but I'm jonesing for a RO/DI unit because I want to start breeding more demanding freshwater shrimp so I keep telling my fiancee it'll be better for her salt tanks
  16. Pygmy cories and a raft of CPD/rummynose/neons/cardinals, and maybe a couple rams for dither.
  17. I'd like to keep rainbow trout in there... Or pike.
  18. Only 500? A massive school of neons or rummynose would be wild, or if your rich a massive pack of galaxy rasboras.
  19. Fluval also has a light that is bundled in their flora/ebi kit that works well for that size of tank. Can be found for $40 new or $20 used, a little steep but it works. Or you can go to home depot and buy a clamp lamp and daylight cfl for about $10-15. It's kind of ugly but it works great.

    Hello - Nano Newb

You can also check out plantedtank.net, plenty of information there, almost too much
  21. Rearranging the rock will usually break up fishes chosen territories and sort of reset things for everyone, so unless things are glued in place or corals are stuck to the rock and prohibiting you from moving the rock that's often a real easy solution.
  22. Looks like a sex toy and a garbage bag all stuck together :P

    Silicone

Not really much risk unless your using a mallet to pound the blade through the silicone.
  24. I'm looking for an RO unit in town, any suggestions on where to look, besides Canadian tire/home depot.
