Hello and welcome to AA. Best advice I can give? Ask questions about advice, reading anything you can for advice...then make up your own mind! I don't do much fish but if you had any sort of question regarding plants or in that ballpark feel free to shoot.

The cycle has started without you. Nothing out of the ordinary that I see. -
Double check but you might need a permit for that fish. I'm sure someone else will chime in and help you out.

Hello and welcome to AA. If you need advice on plants give me a shout, can't help too much with the fish side of things though.

Grab a 20 foot roll of fabric floss from Wal-Mart and use that as filter material. For $5.99 your set for years.

Not if you want a planted tank. I'll give you a pm.

Watch the water parameters to make sure the tank is in balance. A big problem right off the bat is 0 nitrate! If you have questions or in need of plant give me a shout.

Hello and welcome to AA. Have a little 6 gal sw tank myself. Not much salt here but still some. Canreef is quite popular for saltheads!

A plant will also change growing shape to a degree for different conditions and quite different between a pond and our tanks. I wouldn't rule out that 100% but would suggest send that photo to something like this. http://www.biology.ualberta.ca Look at the leaf nodes number count and how it displayed across a stem...that will not change. I've done this sort of thing with bugs in the past to Uni's entomology dept's for ID's.
