  1. Yep some people knew what they wanted & went for it.Prices climbed on some things reaching retail $ would have loved a few rummynose. But all for a good cause, and had a good time.
  2. Thanks for the tip might be able to finish WC's before I run out of beer or a good game comes on.
  3. When draining outside I let gravity keep the siphon going, but thinking about trying a pump to speed things up.As my MTS progresses WC are taking longer & longer.
  4. Thank you CAS members well done  very happy to bring home a trio of Chilatherina fasciata "Faowi Village" male is already settling in and coloring up nicely.First go with rainbows but I have been doing my research with more to follow.
  5. + 1 on the python. But I like to drain used water outside to the flower/vegge.or lawn during warmer months.
  6. Always look forward to these auctions hoping for some good deals and some interesting critters.HINT HINT
  7. I'm no expert but looks like a female bristle nose ( Ancistrus cirrhosus ) she will max out at approx. 4".
  8. makes sense thanks, usually some new shells throws them off and hopefully lose interest in the heater.
  9. Not sure where this belongs but here it goes I have a 75 watt Eheim Jager heater in my Multi tank and now the little buggers have decided it doesn't fit in to their landscaping design so they have decided to bury it.I had it laying horizontal in the back of the tank for months but now they covered in play sand so I moved it to a back corner and hung it vertically and now they have managed to bury it again about half way up the heating coils, will this kill the heater?Never a dull moment in this tank, amazing how much sand they can move in a day.
  10. Just wondering as I'm new to Rainbows but I noticed Pisces has a sale on Iriatherina Werneri when I stop by to see it looked like the whole tank contained juvi. males maybe one female, did or has anybody else seen them and am I way off the mark in sexing these ? Most were approx. 1" but looked like they were all carrying the male filaments and fins.
  11. +1 for the root tabs on heavy root feeders( never tried Jobe's thanks jvision)I add them every three months Amazon & Melon swords love them.Try to get in on a group purchase and pick up the forty packs buying them ten at a time gets expensive.
  12. I have recently read some interesting on-line articles of people using H2O2 for treatment of bacterial and fungal infections in fish maybe some others on AA have some experience using this method. I have successfully used it myself for treating BGA with no ill effects & I have begun to use it as a replacement for bleach for disinfecting equipment.
  13. I was curious because I am running co2 and some peat in the filter but usually the best I could get was PH7.5 even with some large pcs. of driftwood. No worries all plants and critters are fine just a experiment for future tanks would like to avoid the RO and wanted to see how far I could go with the K.I.S.S method.
  14. PH 6.5 ? Does the ADA substrate lower it that much interesting.
  15. Colony of Neolamprologus Multifasciatus with some Java Fern glued to some rock work. What they lack in color they make up with personality and are a blast to watch or so my little niece says and I have to agree.
  16. After all the high water this summer there is all kinds of interesting rocks along the Bow River grab yourself a five gallon bucket and go for a walk drag them home clean them up and test.I have a few soaking right now to see how they effect ph & TDS.
  17. For a multi tank stand I used basically the same design as you used but my dimensions were 84" x 24" x 36" it holds three 20 gallons (24" x 12" x 16") but in the future when MTS takes hold again I can turn the tanks sideways to accommodate six tanks and still have lots of storage space underneath. At 36" tall it is a comfortable height for viewing and maintenance but to each their own.
  18. Big Als sometimes has a good selection of wood pcs. chucks and branch it took a couple trips there spread out over a few months to find pcs. I liked.
  19. Thank you very much for the offer I may take advantage, but I have been told to complete some other renovations in the house before I'm allowed to play with the fish room.I think buying two more 20g may having been pushing my luck so now have three empty tanks.
  20. Doing some shopping and found J&L is having a summer sale Aug.10 - 11 some good prices and free shipping on orders over $100.00 double checking my supplies now.
  21. Rundle rock / Flagstone are commercial names for plain old shale I'm using some in my Multi tank no problems and hasn't raised ph you can google shale and take it from there. Some types should be avoided.
  22. Update nine months and still going strong. So tried Crazy glue for attaching Java Fern to driftwood and some rocks works great there was some globs of cured glue in the beginning ( looks white ) but after a month was not visible, roots and leaves filled in nicely hiding all the globs. So throw out the string and rubber bands and keep a tube of Crazy glue gel in the fish room.
  23. Thanks finding small juvie rummynose is not a problem but finding them cheap is a whole other story LOL.Filtration is always over the top in my tanks will probably be using 2 x canisters ( Eheim 2211 or Fluvals 106) .
