  1. I have fry or should I say one fry spotted it today during feeding,it must have been in there awhile its already about a 1/4" and busy cruising the shell piles.
  2. Another experiment for the fish room of Dr.Moreau LOL keep us updated sounds interesting.
  3. I've been there had the same problem tried everything finally gave up and spray painted the worst side and called it my back ground. tried:vinegar,CLR,petro based solvent, methyl hydrate, baking soda, isopropyl alcohol even tooth paste with a dremel puffing wheel.
  4. SGG I feel your frustration reminds me of the old saying you can led a horse to water and so on.I wish more people would understand the responsibilities that come with owning and caring for all pets.
  5. Looks good remember everybody starts out some where one thing I noticed is your Java Fern's rhizome( the thick lumpy bit ) the leaves are growing out of shouldn't be planted in the gravel the brown roots growing from it yes rhizome should sit on top of the gravel.
  6. Hi Crystal thanks for the info. on Multis the more the better I think I solved my skinny fish problem.I got sloppy with my water tests when I did a check nitrites were up( me bad)I corrected the problem and now their eating like little pigs and starting to fill out. All four are still young but I'm pretty sure one is a female( smaller slightly different body shape) another I'm not sure yet and two are males. I will look into daphnia sounds like a good idea and a natural food for them,I discovered mine like to hunt down the ramshorn snails that hitch hiked in on the Java Fern I added to the tank so maybe I found a new snail control for my plants LOL. So hopefully things are to their liking and fry will soon follow. Thanks for sharing info. Fly
  7. Your welcome but a LOT of the credit should go to Jayba who really help me out me out when I was in the same situation as yourself. He provided me with info.and links to beat these things, the very least I can do is spread the word these worms can be taken care of without having to euthanize all of your fish and starting over as many suggested.
  8. They were very hard for me to see when I vacuumed my 75g which had substrate.I had better luck seeing them in my bare bottom10g QT tank after treatments for new fish even then had to wear reading glasses. The worms are small 1cm at most and transparent when not feeding on a victim.
  9. I would like to have something similar but instead of community fish it would be a native bio-type with rainbow trout of course.

    Hi There

Welcome to AA the more the merrier.
  11. Good stuff!! Now KILL those little red devils.
  12. I'm not sure where in Edmonton maybe some AA members can help you out.I picked mine up from Canadian Aquatics very easy to deal with and arrived via mail in four days.Don't follow their dosing levels it can be to harsh for some fish I believe RD ( AA-mentor ) has some very good articles on dosing levels in fish emergency section.
  13. Sorry for all the inquires about co2 regulators I'm thinking about treating myself for Xmass.Has anybody used the American pin point system one of the lfs has them at a decent $ and I've seen very few reviews on line so turning to other members for the best bang for the buck.Yes I have MTS from one tank to a fish room with five more in less than a year, and really starting to enjoy growing plants and high pressure will give me more options to feed my addiction. Thanks Fly
  14. I know they do some very good work but WOW they do have some strange rules. They had me scratching my head a few times. :grr:
  15. I'm a little paranoid when it comes to de-worming.Don't want to deal with worms again, if you acquired your fish from a trusted source you could probably just observe your fish in QT and treat if symptoms appear.I like to be a little more proactive and treat all fish while in QT.The worms I dealt with can some times not show them selves for 6-8 weeks so I prefer not to take the risk.
  16. If one tank is 20’ away from CO2 distribution center, you are need two separate needle valves and two bubble counters and high grade (CO2 proof) tubing to supply proper amount of CO2 for diffuser or CO2 reactor Thanks for the tip I was wondering how to make this idea work, I just don't have the space to keep equipment in the living room .
  17. So my little Multis have made it through quarantine with no problems all survived but I'm noticing they all look skinny compared to pictures on the net. When I picked them up from the lfs they were mixed with other tangs 3x their size so they probably didn't eat as well as they should have but since they have been fed nls small fish formula .5mm,frozen blood worms , mysis shrimp & algae wafers on WC days( they make a big mess)they were treated with Lev twice and a week of paraguard am I worrying to much or missing something?
  18. I've been thinking about going to high pressure co2, I have been reading posts by other members I see many use or have used this system and was wondering what peoples thoughts were good or bad.I was also wondering if this system can be modified with a multi outlet manifold to supply three tanks one tank my main display in living room being almost twenty feet away from my fish room where the equipment will be. Thanks Fly

    Heaters

I use three of them no complaints they do seem to be sturdier than most, you can also look into the Hydor I use one of their 300 watt ETH love it and they do stand behind their products see posts in equipment.
  20. I was thinking about 206 on a twenty and have the same worries get back with an update when you get it running.
  21. I just grabbed a bag yesterday here in Calgary strange your store is out hope your search goes better.
  22. I have a 300w ETH hooked up to a fluval 405 best money ever spent.
  23. If its a new set up brown algae is common it will sort its self out on its own,but bristle-nose plecos love the stuff.
  24. If they managed to survive a week they are probably fine they are a tough fish, but beware tables will be turned in a few months and you will have to worry about what the convicts will be eating.
