What's Everyone Using For Substrate
variatus replied to Serpentkeeper_dfmc's topic in The planted tank
For sure I will update this thread. Update: So I called the pottery supply and ask for a redart clay (high iron content). Lucky they still have a couple of small bags available, supposedly this raw clay is a fav among pottery makers and they run out quickly. I got a 5lbs clay redart (Cedar Heights) for 5$. Another good thing of getting raw clay is its powder form compare to clay bodies that are pre-mixed (with different chemical contents) ready for use. So yeah drop in their store, the manager is pretty knowledgeable about their products. -

The clay specialty store, is that the Plainsman Pottery Supply? I'm looking to get some redart clay or an M2 raw clay to mix with my substrate, have read that they are high in Iron content. -
Harold, I saw you have the Cyprochromis leptosoma Mpulungu in your African list for breeding purposes. Are you personally breeding them, are juvies available? Price?

The ludwigia looks pretty good, the need like- leaves reminds me of rotala wallichii. -
Pretty decent price you got there, give me a heads up when you're next trip (text or pm would be good). The Chilli rasboras are pretty good, I'll probably getting a couple of these in combo with the Galaxy.

I never knew you had them in stock at that time (price?), let me know when your coming up to Edmonton. BTW, the shrimps and snails I got settled in pretty quick.

Any schedule when you're coming up to Edmonton, looking to get Caridina Babaulti Shrimps? Price?
-
Mystery solved thanks, I will probably check Aquarium central soon. How do you know when group buys are going to be held, postings in sub-forums?

Thanks for the heads up guys, I was hoping to get both cherry red shrimps and CPD from TNT but never got a reply. Bigals has lots as well (went for a look today) but pricier than tntaquatica.

Does anyone know of a LFS that have this fish in stock in Edmonton? I have seen a post about a breeder with a website name tntaquatica based here in Edmonton, has anyone dealt with them? They carry the fish @ 4$ but nothing but out stock as per the website.

Excited to say hello to all, I'm a total noob to all of this. I'm still grappling on all the information I need to know about this hobby. I have a 20 gal tank with a couple of variatus platys (variatus, obviously) and some artificial plants.
