Hi neely. Glad to have you. What kind of fish are you into?
  6. I saw that. They had to deflate the ball to get the thing from floating at the top. The catfish tried to eat the ball. Pylodictis olivaris is the cat in case anybody cares.

    Hey

    Welcome Raven
  8. Really good looking Salvini. I wish I could find some with trailer fins like that.
  9. Great pic. My dwarves will do that too. Team up and break the protective plate on the snail. I keep on putting bigger snails in there and they kepp on figuring out some way to eat through it. Great fish. Highly reccomend them for anybody who wants to dip into the puffer craze.
  10. There is a dwarf version that gets to around 9 inches or so Anaspidoglanis macrostoma. Auchenoglanis occidentalis is the true giraffe cat and it gets about 2 feet or so. Hard to find here like any out of the ordinary cat. I beleive Oliver Lucanas from below water gets them in sometimes, but they are not cheap. www.belowwater.com You should check out a Pimelodus ornatus. They are easier to get and probably around $70 cdn is what you will pay for a decent sized one. Oliver gets these in sometimes and can get you in touch with a local retailer.
  11. I hate judging fish, but I would say 10 inches. He is just starting to thicken so he will be a bruiser. He is originally from Jeff Rapps.
  12. He is called Hoover. Go to this page and the vids are at the bottom. Just a couple videos of my buddy doing what he does best. Eat. http://www.cichlidgallery.com/under-construction?page=3

    Hey

Chris has many grow out tanks specifically for that reason. :P
  14. I have an ornate and a lapredei. The lapredei is easily one of my favorite fish. Lots of personality and does well with just about any fish I have him with. Tough as nails. The ornate is...I have no idea I never see him. Bichers are great though. Toirtois on this board is a serious collector of them so I am sure he should chime in pretty quick.
  15. Just when you think everything is going well here some canucklehead shows up. Hows it going Chris. Glad to have another neotropical nut as we seem to be few and far between.
  16. I have been trying this since you posted it and you are right. I seems to skip the posts if you have seen the thread. I checked on the settings and nothing seems to be strange on there, but I will shoot an email to J and see if he can figure it out. Could be just one of the bugs of the new board. Thanks for the heads up.
  17. I picked up one of those royal plecos from golds a while ago and although small I can't beleive how they tear through driftwood. I can't imagine what they are like when older as I have never owned a pleco that ate wood to the point I could notice it, but there are wood chunks all over my tank from this little guy. Any others withe similar experience?
  18. Not a chance man. Sorry. What is so cool about these fish is that nobody has them. Not in North America, and even over in Europe. There were a few others that got some and there was a lot of p.o.ed people that didn't. The friend I got them from didn't do it to profit off them, he bred the pair and gave fry to a few people to have some of these amazing fish. That is it. They pair will not be bred again and there will most likely be no more fry. They were really hard to raise from fry. I had 7 and lost 4 relatively quickly. Didn't raeact well to even the smallest water changes. As they grow they become indestructible. You can pretty much put them with anything and they will hold their own, but not aggressive in the slightest. There is no dominant fish. They grow at the same rate and although I have felt I have a pair for quite a while, I have never seen eggs and if you asked me to show you which is which of the three I would not have a sniff. I was offered $250 U.S. from some guy on PFish for the biggest male who isn't that big. I had to refuse. If I do ever get fry I will sell them for a mininimal amount the same as I got them to people I know here, or friends.
  19. I was at the store today and promised I would post this for Albert. These are my macs parents. http://www.cichlidgallery.com/album93
