  1. edit: Too slow. Didn't even notice it in the other spot though.
  2. Looks very nice Valerie. Colours are exactly the same as mine. Mine lost its bright blue colour fairly quickly and has looked like yours for a long time.
  3. Nice pictures Gina, the 135 looks great! I really like the adult Metriaclima as well!
  4. I've got 8 tanks going in my condo, and did check with the board prior to setting up my largest tank (125 gallon). The answer was that so long as I had insurance to cover potential damage they were ok with it and it's a concrete highrise so weight is not an issue. My downstair neighbor doesn't know about the tanks... Not sure how comfortable she'd be if she did :eh: I've been in the same condo for about 8 years (had fish for 6). There have been about 3 or 4 floods that affected my unit to some degree (all due to plumbing issues in other units), none due to fish tanks so I would think fish tanks are a minor concern when it comes to flooding. The amount of water is limited to what's in the tank whereas with a plumbing leak it could go on and on until the water is shut off.
  5. Very nice fish, thanks for sharing. I really like the Spilonatus. I've got three juveniles myself that aren't showing any colour yet, but hopefully they'll colour up like yours.
  6. Glad you like the Bionicle. I put him in there for the Aquarium Beautiful Contest the club put on and have left him in since. As for the Mantis I feed him mostly frozen mysis shrimp. He'll eat NLS pellets as well, but doesn't like them as much.
  7. I agree, I don't know why they'd come in such a light colour... And contrary to popular belief the Crayfish tank was not influenced by kids. I try not to take myself too seriously. I think the Crayfish is disgusted by the decor though as he seems to move around the decorations and dig up the plastic plants on a regular basis. He also tries to eat the plastic plants.
  8. And here are photos of my two Saltwater tanks: 55 gallon with various soft corals. For fish it includes a Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish, Flame Angel, PJ Cardinalfish, the standard clowns and a few others: 10 Gallon Mantis Tank: Hope you enjoyed! Nelson
  9. Alright, since I took photos of most of my tanks recently, I thought I'd post some of them here. 125 gallon Hap tank: 20 gallon planted tank, kind of neglected recently: And my pride and joy!!! 20 gallon Crayfish tank. Impecabbly decorated!
  10. Thanks, I guess a stop to West Ed is in order.
  11. Thanks Christian, I'll look into it. I'll see if some of the toy stores in town have them first.
  12. Anyone know where I can get some Triop eggs in Edmonton? and what would I feed them? Would small NLS pellets do? They look like very cool little creatures! http://www.fischbar.de/triops/
  13. Sounds like a deal Jason!! I've also seen some very small SW Nano tanks that looks very impressive. Perhaps I'll have to set up a tiny tank at my cubicle...
  14. Nice to see some more photos out of you Sean, even if they aren't fish! Great looking spider too!
  15. Cool! I take it the Lobster doesn't go after your corals? Does it try to get the fish in the tank?
  16. Nice fish Gina! Eating as soon as you get them home. That's always nice.
  17. Sorry to hear that Gina. You had some great fish in there.
  18. Very cool! I take it he doesn't smash your fingers. Friendly little guy.
  19. The camera is a Canon Rebel XT with an external flash set on top of the tank. Look forward to seeing some photos of your Mantis!!
  20. Great looking fish Paul! I recently got a dwarf angel last week myself. A different variety, but I definatly like yours. I've seen them in the shops before, and they're one of my favorites! Nelson
  21. Nice fish guys  Here's a picture of my Dwarf Lionfish from a few months ago. Need to take some new photos soon.
  22. Looks great Gina! I was also considering setting up a Saulosi/Polit tank myself. Fish named Nelson? This sounds like a fish I should have
  23. Thanks for the feedback you two. The glass is actually 9/32" thick if you look at the second picture (inches are on bottom of ruler for 2nd pic). Like you said, it'll probably be ok, but something like that would never stop bothering me, even if I reinforced it, so I'll have to mull it over for a few days decide if I'm going to replace it or not.
  24. Alright the title pretty much says it. I've got a small chip in a 75 gallon tank. It's on the front pane on the very left corner where it's attached to the side panel, about 2/3rds down. The tank is not leaking at all, but I'm concerned that it may start leaking, or that it will fail in a more dramatic way... As you can see by the pictures, it's fairly small, and it's cracked in such a way that it won't spread, but... Along the front side it's about 5mm thick at its largest. As the crack goes back to where it butts up against the side glass panel it gets thinner (ie maybe about 1 or 2 mm thick at that point). When you look at it from the side you can see it reaches the "joint" i guess you would call it, with the side panel of glass. I have emptied the tank as I don't want to wake up to find my carpet soaked and the downstair neighbour knocking on the door. Let me know what you think. I'm leaning towards getting rid of it, if only for peace of mind. Thanks
