  1. I just tried booking a room and using "Aquarium Club Convention" and the fellow at the hotel could not find it. Birger
  2. Is it similar to these? http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=26
  3. GARRONE-NETO, Domingos and SAZIMA, Ivan. Stirring, charging, and picking: hunting tactics of potamotrygonid rays in the upper ParanĂ¡ River. Neotrop. ichthyol. [online]. 2009
  4. Horabagrus brachysoma...Sun Catfish http://www.planetcatfish.com/scripts/clog_...grus+brachysoma Birger
  5. There are not too many of the S.afrofischeri being shipped anywhere lately (last few years) and if I remember right Chiloglanis of any kind do not ship very well and it is rare to see any of the species available at all. If you can find some once settled in the right conditions they do okay. Birger
  6. Just to add one more thing...I do not want to be the voice of doom and it is most likely these ones are the real thing but this is one of the species that hybrids are regularly passed off as...mostly unknowingly by suppliers. So just a word of warning to be sure of what you are getting.(I would ask for pictures) Birger
  7. Have you sting ray fans seen this yet? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...g-stingray.html
  8. I think it would be just that, rumors, the ecology of the river is all wrong at that point....... sculpins maybe. As much as I would love to have them around they just do not belong here. As mentioned above take a trip to BC, I am not sure how much hassle proper permits would be to be able to keep them alive. Those are introduced populations as well.
  9. The only Ictaluridae as far as I know found in Alberta is Notorus flavus or the Stonecat which can only be found in the Milk River in Southern Alberta. Birger
  10. Rudy had it right, that is a Cetopsis coecutiens
  11. That is what I thought of as well...a bit of a special fish...never heard of them giving a charge though, more like giving a good bite Birger
  12. Yeah, I would agree with this, more likely especially if what you are calling upside down catfish are Synodontis nigriventris (there are a few others that can end up with this name as well) Petricola's (or lucipinnis) are from the lake as stated above... if you have S.nigriventris(upside down catfish) you should not put them with rift lake cichlids, they will survive... for a while, but do not like the water conditions and do not compete well with the cichlids, being fairly shy...it is just not a good idea for their well being. Birger
  13. Do as the above suggestion, maybe even waiting until the others settle down a bit. You said earlier you thought it could use a larger cave....it does not hurt to give it a few more choices, make it feel more comfortable.
  14. Yes I figured that out but it will come soon enough,at least they are working on it.
  15. Seems there has been a revision of the genus Archocentrus, just trying to work through the pdf now, I am trying to figure out what has been done(if anything) with the Honduran red points In regular english that means the convict has a new name...again. http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/...m.php?news=1399
