    Hi!

    Welcome to the forum! :welcome:
  3. I have used a lot of the Flourite and Flourite black...good stuff. Personally, I would likely just swap the whole thing at once, siphoning out the existing bed into a bucket or four.

Wait until the wife is out and have the 130 in place and filled before she gets home...make it look really nice, and tell her it is hers. ...and welcome to the board.

    Tank builders

It is, although those wider tanks (anything over 24") tend to be a bit spendy...is that just a bare tank, or does it include overflows, holes, etc? That was bare tank . With 2 overflows it would be $500 OK, that is crazy....$1800 for that is way too much.

    Tank builders

Likely different builders...the difference between a Bow Valley tank and a Concept tank is like comparing a Kia to a Mercedes.
  9. Sure sounds like a dominance bit....that senegal is in for one heck of a surprise when that ornate hits 24"+.

Concept aquarium in Edmonton does excellent work. In calgary, you have two options...Bow Valley (Mitch) or Gary....anything custom from any Calgary shop comes from one of those three builders, and primarily from the two Calgary ones.
  11. Dunno about Edmonton, but I have whiteworm and microworm cultures to share, and Riverfront carries live blackworms, too.
  12. Oddly, way back when, I actually had a hand in getting them started in the biz....Nikki and James are good people.
  13. Owned by the brother-in-law of Freeman, who owns Red Coral in Calgary.
  14. Congrats....nothing feels better than waking up to a litter of boas.
  15. This one? http://www.redseafish.com/product.asp?dir=...4&proID=287 Have one going here, and it really seems to work well at 1.5-3 bps.
  16. I have nothing...they were on our supplier's list as Apistogramma 'Diamond', and I have zero species info on them.
  17. Many of the welding supply places have used, certified tanks available at decent prices.
  18. All crocodilians are prohibited in Alberta...the basis for this is that F&W considers them to be both a safety hazard and a potential nuisance (in places where they are legal, local animal shelters are packed with them).
  19. The bigger cylinder is more cost-effective to fill (and easy, if there is a welding supply or AirLiquide nearby)...usually $10 for a 10lb, but the cylinder itself is not cheap (Nature's Corner is probably the most reasonable at about $100)...and much cheaper to buy locally than to have shipped from anywhere. My local paintball place sells filled 20oz cylinders for $30, and refills are $5 each....at 1.5 bubbles per second, a $5 fill seems to last a good 40-45 days....a 5lb tank should last a good 6 months at a similar rate.
  20. Pretty impressive colouration for that size...they will be pretty amazing in a few months, I suspect.
  21. It is found all along the west coast, so I would imagine that you could probably get a Vancouver/Victoria aquarist to gather you some, come late spring.
  22. Caimen have not been legal to possess in Alberta for decades.
  23. Hemis are not my bailiwick, but I do know that there have been a lot of 'gold' Hemibagrus wyckioides available lately. Edit: Appears that H. wyckioides and H. nemurus may now be synonymous.
  24. None do...the smallest species (Asians, Africans, Jardini), all end up at least 24"-30".
