Vapor
Glad to hear that Petsmart came through, and that it is all coming together for you.
Sam Chicklets
I'm happy for you Karen, and yes adding a few fish at a time is probably your best bet. Hope all goes well for you.
Pier Pressure
Conclusion to the Tragedy: We did not end up cycling. It is now a month later and all water parameters are where they should be. We just used the "gunked up filters", seeded the new sand, and every time we did water/filter changes in the smaller tanks we put the old filter sponges and old water into the new 150 gallon tank. As of last weekend, we have moved everyone who belongs in there back into the 150 gallon. The F1 electric yellows must not have minded the 33 gallon too much as one of them had a mouthful of fry when we went to move them back! Thank you for your comments and help during this difficult time. We were SOOOO close to giving up the hobby!

Did you leave her in the 33?
Vapor
Glad you're back up and running. Congrats on the fry. I guess confined to tighter living quarters they had nothing better to do.
New to Alberta
You could eveb transfer the media into a bucket with a bubbler or powerhead to get the bacteria going again and keep your filters active until you can get yourself a new tank. Pier Pressure
We stripped her (25 babies), put the babies into a breeder net in the 33 gallon and then moved the mom back into the 150 gallon with the rest of her colony with no problems. New to Alberta, if you read the post from the beginning you will see that we already got a new tank and just finished moving the livestock back into it.
