snaggle
I have some acrlic that I want to cut up to make a paludarium with in my spare 33g tank. Can I just cut it with my table saw? Do I need an acrylic blade? and can I just use silicone to glue it in place? Brad
seajays
You can cut it easy on a table saw. Best to have a new Plywood or Veiner blade. The better blade is an 80 tooth sharp carbide. Weld-on glue.

spcy
Wet tile saw works not bad, Or a var. speed jigsaw with a fine tooth blade on very slow speed and dish soap to keep it cool, Tablesaw works good with a finishing blade and a strip of masking tape on both sides of the acrylic to prevent chipping. williewonka
How about if you put the saw blade on backwards like you would for vinyl siding, would that work?
spcy
Too much heat, Acrylic is thicker than vinyl siding and the edges will melt.
Sam Chicklets
The last time I cut acrylic I used a treipple chip 120 tooth melamine blade. there was minimal blowout and no melting you can also candle wax as a lubricant.

seajays
Do not try it with the blade backward! You are asking for big trouble. You need a very sharp fine multi tooth blade. Like Sam said triple tooth carbide 80 tooth or more is the best. I have cut a lot of Acrylic in my display and sign business days.
