Fishnut
My Venustus have spawned. The female was holding 1.5 to 2 weeks and while moving her to her own 25g she spit her fry. She is now in the 25g with her fry. My question is will she and fry be ok together or will she eat her fry. They are the only fish in this tank. dunl
To be safe, why not remove her? Congrats....how many fry?
Fishnut
At first the amount caught me by surprise. I would guess 50+ anyways.

African_Fever
I'd get her out of there as well, no point in risking losing your fry.
Fishnut
One month later and I just stripped another batch of venustus fry. Another 50 or so. They are busy exploring their new fry tank.

Fishnut
At this rate there is already lots of babies to go around.
whiterose
Congrats, I would be very interested in picking up 1 or 2 females for my son. We just recently lost his when the tank crashed. We had just picked up a really nice male to go with her, but now he's all alone and very sad.
Fishnut
Thanks! Right now they're still pretty small but I hear they are fast growers. Once they get bigger I will post them.
Fishnut
Well I just moved the last two batches of Venustus fry to a larger tank and counted as I went. I have 350 fry from two separate spawnings with the same male and female. That would be about 175 fry per batch. I'm shocked at the numbers. I think I'm going to have to intervene to limit any more babies
NatureNut
Wow!!! That's more than enough to go around, I'd say! You must be doing something very right! Maybe too right? :P
