TheGr8Blade
Can you put those in with apistos? COOOOOOL! Very nice!
fatpuffer
It's a risk I am willing to take. C. irrubesco if fairly rare and last time I was them was 4-5 years ago. They are very aggressive with conspecific so provide lots of hiding place. The apisto are pretty fast and takes the bottom are, whereas the puffs take the middle and top. CalgaryFan
Rookie question but I have always wondered, are these the fish that pop into a ball of spikes when they are stressed or something? Very cool.
fatpuffer
Yup! Not all will have the spikes though...I know for sure GSP and takifugu have spikes when puffed. Js

Dave
Thanks. Been looking for these for a long time now, and I have a spare planted 40g that I'm sure they would find hospitable.
Terrie Lee
This may be a silly question but, do you get to see the puffers "puff" or are they too happy?
fatpuffer
I have seen my takifugu puff...just once. He was not stressed, maybe just bored. My brown puff puffs for fun. He will swim around the tank and then all of a sudden...POOF! Other puffs, I have not seen puff at all. Js
