I am looking for someone who can repair a tank.

bottom broke getting it into the house.

a pretty good crack and it looks like the bottom needs to be replaced.

If you know someone who can do it please let me know.

Trying to get it into the house. We had to turn it on its side and when we set it down inside the door it went.

The bottom of the tank has an 8" crack in it. Looking at it, it looks like when it went into the truck it must have hit the seat hook or something.

FING sucks

A little pissed at the moment.

And I dont even have a beer in the house.

That sucks. I've cracked the sides of tanks before and just chucked them out. I've never repaired one, but in this situation, since it's the bottom and not the sides, do you think it's possible to get a piece of tempered glass custom cut, place it in the bottom (or underneath) and silicone it to death?

Good luck.

Sorry to hear Mathew, I just went through the same with a 29 after holding water for a week. If it were mine, I would try to figure out a way to solidly support the glass under the crack, because putting water in the tank will bow the glass and make the crack bigger. Normally to keep a crack from spreading you would drill a small hole on each end of the crack, unfortunately not so easy with tempered. Then I would get a piece of 1/4 inch acrylic cut to the shape of the entire bottom and silcone it over top of the original glass. That or find someone to recut the botttom glass and put in in for you. As was said not a good thing to happen.

The bottom of this tank is not tempered glass. If it was it would not crack, it would explode into little cubes. Tempered glass can not be cut or drilled at all. If you were in Edmonton I would be able to help you out.

It would depend on the location of the crack and the size of the aquarium. You could laminate a plate of glass over the cracked area on the inside of the tank but you would also have to make sure the glass was suported from underneath as well. A photo would really help to give advice on this.

I agree with the new bottom as well. If it did not have the y in it you might have been able to repair it.
