corrosionjerry
I purchased a couple of the XP line of canister filters yesterday.... The question I have is about the disscharge water.... I have never used canister filters before... because of fear that they will leak... Talked to enough people now that I am ready to change out some of my bigger A/C units.... Should I be using the spray bar or use the output water nosle that is underwater from my estimations/// what do you people do... all my tanks are freshwater tanks... Thanks
Sam Chicklets
If you are putting them on a heavily stocked or planted tank use the spray bar. If not either or. IMO the spray bar gives better aeration and more even circulation.

Does the spray bar go above the water line or can it be under the water line
Sam Chicklets
I use mine just above the water line for aeration.
Vallisneria
I put my spray bar under the water line as I dont' like the water noise it made when I put it above. WIth it under the water line, it creates lots of surface movement without the noise.
FrogFan23
I use an XP2 on my clawed frog tank. As they do not like strong currents (and they do not need or like heavy water agitation), I put the spray bar and flow control below the water line. jvision
I too place my spray bars underwater. In non-planted tanks, I point them toward the surface, and in planted tanks, I point them down toward the front-bottom. Then I point my CO2 powerhead into that flow.
