The big one is at least 12 inches . And his freind is not far behind. Heard or read that they can grow to about 15 inches . I guess I will find out with this tank. It seems to me the only way to keep sand out is to mount the intake outside the tank. I think this is the only way ,but then this is going to lead to a whole bunch of other problems. Like sucking air..lol J/k Have not given you a bad time in awhile. I did lift it up and I,m still going to get some sand. I can live with this. Every cleaning I pull the motor and propeller and check for damage. Use Q tips to clean and I keep spare parts on hand. I have had filters go down on me at night and have be in trouble. Throwing every small hob AC that I had on tanks just to keep water moving. So now it is a good cleaning and inspection. Spare parts that have caused me trouble before.
