Vallisneria
For africans a great site is www.cichlid-forum.com. It has species profiles, stocklist suggestions for certain tank sizes, and articles about everything from breeding to nutrition.
herefishyfish fishy
I have been very happy with all the AD Konnings books I have gotten. He only does african chiclids though, to my knowlage. If you get them try online, the stores here charge an arm and a leg.
firestorm
cichlid-forum I have to say is the best for having pictures with their profiles. Not the best when it comes to their behavior and care, but great for knowing what they are and basic care. For actual books I have heard many great things about Ad Konnings, I would try and get some of his. I would have to say on average for one of his books they cost around $50 or more. Spencer jacks also sells Ad konnings books and for a better price than in town. www.cichlaholic.com
Doc_Polit
Cichlid Press sells "Malawi Cichlids in Their Natural Habitat IV" for $69.99. They are easy to deal with and provide excellent service for an online dealer. I would order from them again anytime. rayfong
This little chart can be a guide too. It is all africans and probably a little outdated as some genuses are not on the chart or have been reclassified. http://www.cichlidrecipe.com/cichlidchart/noflashchart.htm
