where do you buy your plants?

I bought a bunch of plants for my little sister's tank from www.Aquariumplants.com. I wasn't overly impressed with the root development of any of the plants we got. (plants were sold in bunches not potted, I suspect potted would be a better way to buy)

The plants have taken quite well in the last month of being in the tank.

Even with shipping costs the web was much cheaper than buying the plants at any store I know of in Edmonton.

Any local recommendations?

For plants its definately Nature's Cornerstore. They just got in a BIG shipement of plants and they all looked great. It will be more expensive then online but they are the store with the best plants.

For really cheap plants, auctions are great but we just had our fall auction on Oct. 26th. The next one wont' be until next year.

Or ask on the forum. You can find a lot of cheap plants as people are pruning their tanks and have clippings or runners to sell.

I'm glad your experience is better than mine. I had customs problems(on an in country shipment), doa, missing items. Buying intown may be a bit more expensive, but you get a live plant this month and no extra headaches. I'll goto natures corner store from now on.

Most of what I get is from other hobbyists. If NC has something nice, and I have space, I'll usually buy it. That's about it, tho...

Im on the same page with werner. If I happen to see a plant I like somewhere, I will buy it. But here in Calgary the 2 stores with the best selection I find are pisces and riverfront. Or collecting them from other hobbyists is another great way. I also order some of my plants from spencer jacks on groups orders that are going through (his plants were in excellent shape)
