I want to build my own background for my 225 gallon but can only find sealer with urethane in it. I actually ended up finding a water based sealer that is animal safe at Home hardware. They had to order it in for me but thats okay. It is by a company called Excel. Are you sure the urethane (animal safe) is ok for underwater purposes? Al It doesnt have urethane in this one, it says it is human, animal and vegetation safe. I am going to test it on some styro in a jar of water first to make sure it seals. I will also be using rapid drying concrete on my background first then the sealer. I have a 225 gallon tank in which I really dont want to have to change the water 10 times to stabilze the PH.
