Raven
my newest plant came in one of those plastic pots. its half stuck in the gravel and i dont like the look of it. Is it all right to remove it from the pot and just plant it in the gravel?
Baos
usually. Just remember some plants don't like their roots disturbed.
jvision
I always take the plants out of their pots - I agree they're not too pretty. Gently pull the rockwool away from the plant and tuck the roots into the substrate.
fleshgear
sometimes you have to cut the basket apart so that it doesn't damage the roots too badly
Raven
ok cool, pot goes with today's water change.
Raven
that rock wool stuff was sure hard to get off....
Kronosdelsol
I find that if you rip it off little by little while under water, its easier. If you search for a video on youtube by tropica, you can see Oliver Knott removing plants from pots and rock wool. You must be happy that is done now though right? Easier than planting HC! JLake
so should i remove the rockwool and pot on my Anubias Congensis?
fishclubgirl
IMHO, I would. I let my anubias float but put a plant weight around it so it sinks. Then it has a chance to root too. Congensis is one of my fave anubias for it's longer leaves and stems.
JLake
yeah i ordered it off sj and I am very happy with it. Nice big leaves like you said. Stayed very green unlike most of my plants haha. Right now its in a pot in rockwool half buried in sand. Should i treat it like my other anubias?
fishclubgirl
That's how I treat mine. I have a tank that's all anubias and crypts for my wild bettas.
