interpolantics
I recently bought a breeding pair of jag cichlids but they have not bred in 5 months. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestions. I have tons of slate and flowerpots and they are the only fish in my 75g.
jvision
I would try large WCs, maybe with water thats 5* cooler?
secretlaw
I would just do like jvision says...try it out first...it works on me all the time...
Jaykit
I would just do like jvision says...try it out first...it works on me all the time... You have the urge to breed when cold water is poured on you? :eh: Colder WCs always work to get my fish in the mood too.
JORG
I would add some dither fish for them to harass and get them working as a team defending their territory. I used this method all the time when I was into Hero's in the 80's
vince0
I would add some heavy feedings to start, prior to doing all of the things other people have suggested. A lot of times, the higher quality diet that frozen or live food bring, triggers the females to start producing eggs, and the males sperm becomes more viable. After conditioning them for a couple weeks, do large water changes every 2-3 days until they spawn.
Jmak
Live foods have always produced the best results for me (to stimulate spawning). Maybe a couple feeder minnows or small guppies.
