My Paludarium

Hello everyone :)

This is my paludarium. It has over 100 species of plants. Mostly miniature orchids and other tropical plants. Even though it doesn't seem like it but there is pretty wide variety of "aquatic" plants like java fern, subwassertang, riccia, mondo grass, microswords, cryptocoryne , and a few others I don't remember the name of. There are some shrimp and assassin snails in the water section and the main land area is home to a group of three bumblebee toads.

Some of you might recognize this tank from either the orchid show or the Edmonton Reptile & Amphibian Societies spring show last weekend. I was a vendor there as Nile Consultants and I custom make tanks like this one. I have learned a lot from this forum and would like to thank all the contributors who make this forum one of the few that are a valuable source of information. Thank you also to the members of ACE who as always have been supportive, informative and very friendly. Pleasure knowing you all and hope to stay in touch.

Hope you like.

Mishaal

That Oncidium is on my wish list. I heard it has an amazing smell. If you flower your NOID orchid I might be able to help you. Pics right now might help narrow things down without flowers but positive ID will be difficult. Paludariums are the best of both worlds

I use to grow 100s of orchids but I didn't see any oncidiums.

What happened to all your Orchids. I don't keep any Oncidiums myself. Where did you look for them ?

That is so pretty! I have been thinking of turning my crested gecko tank into a planted habitat and the only miniature orchid I have seen is a Phalaenopsis. Are there any types of orchid you would suggest for my tank?

I can definitely help with suggestions but I would have to know what the conditions in your tank are. From what I know about Cresties the first orchid that that comes to mind is Phalaenopsis. The don't need much light or humidity and the have real pretty flowers. There are lots of options but without knowing anything about your tank/growing conditions it's hard to recommend anything.
