mharding4
I just got a 30 gallon given to me that has seen better days. I got the tank clean with water, a scrubber and a blade but I have two heaters, a filter and a lid and light fixture that is somewhat covered in the white crusty residue. Some of the parts I can soak in vinigar over night and try to get it clean. I am sort of scared of CLR but willing to try it if there is no other way. and a blade will not work on most of these parts. Any suggestions? They all still work fine otherwise! and for free why not?!?! Thanks!
jvision
I've never used CLR, but I know that a few have. Once rinsed there are no adverse affects. I always try to hide my equipment, so I don't bother removing hard water stains - once submerged you can rarely see them, anyway.
Jayba
Come to think of it, I have used CLR on everything except the tank itself. Really anything you can rinse the heck out of should be ok. Just rinse realy really well.

epiphany
And once you think you've rinsed it well enough, rinse it once more just to be sure.
