ckmullin
Not out but since LED's it isn't as popular as a general yardstick. PAR is more of the 'now' yardstick if you want to be hip!
jvision
Yes, the WPG rule typically only applies to T8,12. For T5, I would consider 2 bulbs running the length of the tank (up to 20" deep or so) to be 'medium light'. Adding more bulbs and/or reflectors would move you into 'high light'. Because of the high efficiency of lights coming out these days, you almost have to test things out for yourself. I can tell you that if you think you're venturing into the 'med-high light' range, you'll want to make sure you have a source of Carbon (CO2, Excel, Metricide) and other ferts; otherwise, you'll end up battling algae. jamesbarr
cool thanks for the tips I have some heminathus micranthemoides that I am told will grow in a bush in low light and can be more of a foreground in a high light. its trending toward the foreground more than a bush, staying low and looks like its spreading, so I think Im into the higher light bracket. I have been dosing excel daily so far but am going to try to reduce it down from 6ml daily to 3ml daily if I can get away with it. Im not too sure how that will go but we will see how that goes.
