Senroc
I'm thinking of starting up a 30gal tank in my boy's room so he can start to get a feel for the hobby from an early age. I'd like to do something with a Betta, mostly because everytime I walk into a pet store I feel sorry for them, but I'm not sure what he'll mix well with. Any suggestions? SuperGuppyGirl
You could do a sorority tank of female bettas, there's a few collectors in Calgary who have nice ones. or instead of the sorority, add the male betta last after some corys, a twig catfish, and some small schoolers like pencilfish or neon daisy rice fish or threadfin rainbows. Lots of movement and colors.
fishclubgirl
Agreed, bettas work well with most community fish. Just watch you don't mix long tails with fin nippers ie barbs..
Senroc
Thanks...would tetras be a good option? I'm thinking along the lines of Rummy Nose and Cardinals. My little guy is a year and half so I think something bright and active.
SuperGuppyGirl
Hit and miss on those tetras, some will do great others will chew his tail to pieces. White cloud minnows is a possibility, the gold color firm is bright and flashy,
ckmullin
Do a nice planted tank!
msmary
I think corys would be a great option. I once had ember tetras with my beta.. that did not turn out well.. my beta was a bit too aggressive. Lots of hiding places in the tank would be great too! Taurus
I had Rummynose tetras with my Beta in my community tank. This included Discus, Cardinals, Black Neons and catfishes.
