ckmullin
throw the balls of algae in the garbage they are just not worth it everyone who asks me about that item (dozens upon dozens of people) I always say the same thing. "You know those kiddie Kinder Surprises...the ones that look like an egg with a toy inside...those balls are the same thing. It's a cocoon with possible bad nasties that you can add to your tank" Don't risk just throw it out. If you now have planaria, heaven help you!! japanda
well you cant eat the green fuzz and the inside isnt a toy... i dont think thats a fair comparison ... lol planaria is treated easily imo.. even if he tosses them theres still the pest in the tank that needs to be dealt with

Iceturf
There must be an effective way of either getting ones that are 'safe' to begin with or sterilizing the worms and crap.
ckmullin
what about a microwave? It should cook any critters and should perhaps leave the algae well and okay?
