Tyler79
So my understanding of bloat is from too much protein in cichlid diets not from to much veggies. My question is would adding duckweed to my tank in anyway contribute to bloat? Or would it be a good idea to have this as a part of their diets? Right now I feed NLS of course but was thinking of trying duckweed + smaller amounts of ND. Also would duckweed still spread in a cichlid tank or would they eat it faster then it could grow? jvision
IME, the only way African cichlids get bloat when fed a high-quality pellet like NLS is if you feed too much at one time, and it's happened to me only once in about 10 years of feeding NLS. Not all cichlids will eat duckweed, but if they do, it's a great food! Give it a try

RD.
Bloat is not caused from too much protein.
