Doc_Polit
Hey degrassi, I've always used the Intermatic DT-17 (digital/programmable) timers. I got them at Home Depot for about $10-12 each. They run on a watch battery, and I have never had any problems with reliability. They are grounded (3-prong) as well. Bonus --> They are really easy to program. Let us know which way you decide to go.

Vallisneria
Art, are those ones from princess auto easy to program or figure out? Are they digital?
Toirtis
Art, are those ones from princess auto easy to program or figure out? Are they digital? Easy and reliable (surge-protected, even), but not digital.
Vallisneria
Well I stopped by Princess auto tonight and picked up a GE surgePro timer and a GE powerstrip timer. On the back of the GE powerstrip timer is says "Not for use with aquariums". Any idea why that might be? Now i just have to figure out how to program them
arixonbarnes
I don't think you will find any power bars that aren't labeled "not for aquarium use". I'm guessing that it's probably to do with the fact they aren't waterproof. All the ones in Walmart were marked "not for aquarium use". I' don't think it's a problem as all the older model power bars didn't have that restriction.
