finaddict
Ok All, I have started my project.. working on it a few hours at a time..... -roll- ok, I had to get white vinyl eaves as was told no brown only in metal.. so cut peices with hack saw, drilled holes with 2inch and 3/4 inch hole saw(that was fun), cut out lawn edging and siliconed that in place, then tie strapped them together using 3/16 drill bit! went to ornamental landscape and bought lava rock peices (they were all out of black ) Now the pain staking part selecting and siliconing them on to the eaves... I decided to just do a 18 inch wide peice for the back & with sword plants on either side of the wall. pix so far... my assistant I will likely fill in the cracks with flourite as it is closer to the same color and I do not want to see white!!! updated as I proceed
TheGr8Blade
Very cool! Maybe we can all come to your house and you can give a rock wall/rock condo course. LOL! I wouldn't know where to start. I'd get stuck at buying lava rock. Very creative you are!

finaddict
thx everyone.. just bought some flourite today, and rinsed the crap out of it!!! will let it dry then fill in the gaps with it!!! I might use the remander of the flourite under the sand for the plant roots.... this is a very time consuming/tedious project... I would highly recomend brown eavestroughs... I have to still let the silicon cure , and make ancors to hang over the back of tank properly!!
dunl
Maybe a stupid question, but why not paint the eaves black?
finaddict
what kind of paint could you use that is fish safe? this background is submerged???
Toirtis
Marine epoxy paint would work (it is what one uses to paint the inside of plywood tanks), but it ain't cheap. Looking good, Connie...I do not envy you the time that must be taking.
dunl
Yeah, I guess epoxy would raise the cost substantially.... Definately looks good.

Froggie
Marine epoxy paint would work (it is what one uses to paint the inside of plywood tanks), but it ain't cheap. I wouldn't recommend using it on Vinyl. Aquapon, which is one of the products most commonly used, can be quite harsh on plastics. It can eat through the plastic paint-trays to say the least.
