green water

hi my my water keeps turnin green. changed water on saterday and it was clear today i looked a the tank and now its green again. My mom who has had fish for a lond time says its casue its to close to the window is this correct should i move the tank thanks for any info

The green water is basically free floating algae in the tank, and being too close to the window is definetly a contributing factor. Excess nutrients in the water would most likely be the other half of the cause, possibly from feeding too much, or not enough partial water changes. I would definetly move the tank to somewhere that it is not getting direct sunlight, and probably cut back on the amount of time that the tank's lights are on until the green goes away.

I'm a little envious right now... I've got a Daphnia culture that I'm having to feed crushed NLS b/c I can't get the GW going. Go figure! :rolleyes:
