  1. I used to do water changes on established tanks and put the water in the new tank to speed the cycling. I'm just cycling a 75g tank using ac 500 with Scotchbrite pads for media 30% water from w/c filled on sunday and ready today.
  2. Maybe Aquarium Illusions can steer you in the right direction for a panel.
  3. Well keep us posted, It would be cool to get ahold of some.
  4. Your dad can check with Crystal glass but I think they will want at least $8 per square foot, for 6mil glass and who knows how much for 1/2"
  5. I usually just use a Q-tip to clean mine.
  6. You may be able laminate a patch over the broken panel if price is more of an object than looks. Does your dad live in Fort Saskatchewan? if so I may have some glass cheap for a patch.
  7. That's a good possibility, it could posted as a survey for each contest.
  8. Well hopefully we can get you fixed up. Is there a local glass shop near you?
  9. How are your fry doing? When r u posting pics?
  10. You could post them in the free plant thread under planted aquarium.
  11. How badly is it broke? You might be able to patch it with 5mil on the inside but I would strongly discourage using 1/8 inch. Can you post a photo of the broken panel, as it would be easier to advise you on repairing it.
  12. Tanks have been rated in U.S. gallons for a very long time, long before Canada went metric.

    gggrrr

How low are your tanks running? Ive only had that problem when the water is down several inches.
  14. Check Corydoras Aeneus, plus other corydoras or Loricaria, or several other catfishes. I have lost some relatively expensive catfish due to adding salt to the water.
  15. Seems like maybe the Oscar was hanging a licking on it. were these things happening suddenly?
  16. If you have catfish plecos or corydoras you may not be able to use salt as it is lethal to a lot of them. Check and see if they can tolerate salt first.
  17. My fishroom was based near a floor drain and a plastic laundry sink, it also had a 45g water barrel running for water changes.
  18. Fertilizer for the next batch? How about some landscaping and a back ground?
  19. I would put both in as they will keep things clean and are non-destructive. There are a number of plants that go through a submerged and a terrestrial stage and look quite different in both stages.
  20. When I had my fishroom (half my basement) I still had a 96g and a 45g in my front room. The fisfroom had a 108 a 55 10 15gs 8 20 longs and an assortment of other tanks for breeding and growing plants.
  21. I haven't but it should be ok if it says that on it.
  22. I had an 18" common Pleco that broke a couple of glass tops during the night on my 108g tank, and a 14" or so Silver Arrowana that did the leap of faith through hole where the filter was sitting, funny thing about the Pleco is when he was little he would go into the top of the Aquaclear filters.
  23. Well so far you must be doing the right thing to keep him alive by the looks of the improvements.
  24. Have you considered just featuring tank of the month based on different things i.e. unique shape, size, decor, etc. and give the membership a chance to show what they have acomplished, I know that when I was just a kid I wasproud of my little 20g tank with wild minnows, crayfish, and Sticklebacks.
  25. I had a friend who moved from here to Medicine Hat on a sudden career oportunity and rather submit his fish to a move like that in 30+ degree weather he gave them away to people he knew. I received a breeding pair of Fuelleborni from him. You always see adds for free to good home for other animals, and some can be quite expensive or exotic pets as well. So what's the real difference between say Chinchillas and fish? They are both Pets.
