  1. I have had that plant for years / love the follage... especially with good lights and fertz... if allowed to break surface the green flowers are a bit interesting as well!
  2. I used crushed up flake/ON1 and cyclop-eeze and mine were good to go.... now after about 4 mos are on NLS 1mm... they grow super slow
  3. I have had python and marina gravel cleaning equipment... hated them both / they work however not to my standard... the suction is not near as good as the gravity pull with a rubbermaid below / I can understand why some people use them however because it can be quite a job if you have several tanks and are undersized or limited in some capacity and love the Hobby.
  4. Yep... i wouldnt fret... and do not worry about any heater!
  5. Nah the LPH is Fine I run a 950GPH return and a 1200 PH and thinking of adding 1 more for dead spots on a 90G .....what worries me is you say a pic of a pond on the box?......pond pumps don't usually work on reef tanks there is sometimes non stainless screws or metal shaft that will rust is SW After reading the side of the box I am thinking it should be safe... it may be ok... Here is what is says... What do you think? Shell is made of quality stainless steel or plastics Axle cores and casing made of quality ceramics and are waterproof Motor and wires are sealed by a special resin Insulation

I have two 1050Hydor Powerheads that I will be putting into this 50G tank as well.
  7. That is exactly how they propegate / they send out a runner that has babies on it, that can be taken off once they devlope some root growth and replanted or you burry the runner in your substrate and the babies will root themselfs that way.
  8. We have already lost waaay to many hobbiests due to suspensions... Maybe, it's more important to worry about the hobbyists that either quit posting or quit the site altogether, than the few that happen to be suspended as a result of their actions. I agree with willie. Also, I think its safe to say that most if not all people posting on here are at least or over 15 years old, and with that (actually even younger) there is no reason for people to be rude to others on here, which I have experienced first hand more times than I can count on both hands on this site. It certainly would have been easy as a newbie to turn away from the hobby or at least this site based on what I experienced from a lot of people, Its beyond me why anyone would even be so childish and not talk like mature adults, especially in such great numbers, perhaps its largely a result of the 'easy to be a bully behind a computer screen safely hidden in your home" syndrom, Im thankful I stuck with it despite this, and even had those same rude people come back wanting things from me that they couldnt get their hands on themselves, asking for advice etc. kind of funny how things go. Anyways my point is if you are old and smart enough to type on a computer and figure out a forum, then you are old enough to have some general good manners, and I dont believe there should be any tolerance for anything less than that, disagreements happen of course, but if you cant be a decent human and discuss things in a mature way than we are better off without them anyways. I agree with your coments!
  9. Black Beard Algae is bad bad bad.... I had it once in a planted tank and the only way I could get rid of it was to start from scratch and pay careful attention to the balance of the tank as Jaykit mentions. In a tank with no plant it can be looked after by one of those common plecos that they sell in PS etc. they seem to love that stuff / Bristlenose dont seem to like it so much. Good luck
  10. Yes the Discus are very nice / looks like the adults have very round bodies... just the way Discus should be .... Great looking Pictures
  11. If I were you I would just use a sponge filter and keep it real simple / with a few guppies and shrimp and lots of plants it should be plenty good.
  12. Ok / I found my sump tank / low and behold I am not sure why I didnt think of it before .... many of you have seen my 60 gallon partioned tank that I use for spixi snails shrimp etc etc ... it has 4 equal 15G partitions with 1 inch openings on the bottom of each pain of glass... so I should be able to modify this when time comes for set up..... Here is what I need some help with : What kind or model of an internal protein skimmer would you recomend /
  13. great pics / you got to love the pony tank
  14. I agree the males are generally not all that red / males are smaller and duller in color however the younger ones in the right situation and substrate do demenstrate some nice red when young
  15. Shrimp need a fully cycled tank.... are there any plants in your tank .... if not plant it with a bunch of cheap stem plants and you should be fine. The temperature is a bit on the high side for shrimp
  16. 320G My wife would choke you if she found out you tried to plant that idea in my head! LOL
  17. Well....yes and no. Depends on the setup you are making. I have a 1200gph pump in my 55g tank right now - no sump. :shifty: But I blocked all kinds of live rock in front of it to disperse the force of the flow.....lots of good flow throughout the tank, but not blowing everyone around. You'd have to be very creative to use that in a normal 4ft or so tank. Guess you better upgrade to a 320g or something.
  18. What size of pump should I be looking at for this kind of application L or G an hour
  19. LOL / yep to big..... Think I may have to do a trade of some kind / sort of thought it was a little big looking at the pond picture on the side of the Box
  20. I purchased a HQB-3500 pump a couple of years back when I had the brain fart of moving my ro water mix directly from my conditioning barrel to my Discus tank that was about 40ft away / it has a H-max of 3.5M at 3000L/H / never used the darn thing even once.... I am guessing that this is going to be to powerful to use if I put together a sump tank that will be about 4ft below the mother tank / is there some way that this thing can be toned down if it is to powerful? I guess at the very least I should be able to use it in my barrel when I get some live rock to cure or will it be to terbulant for even that?
  21. Thanks for that example Jason / and the tip of the top off water with only ro
  22. Yes this will be about a 6 month project //// My budget doesnt like the big big idea...my head does tho However the plan is this / I have a 60G for the top tank and I need to find a suitable sump tank... I am thinking somthing around the same size /// aiming for a reef tank. I am also going to try and build a refugium and use a protien skimmer / Have to decide if I am going to drill the top tank or rig something / If I am not mistaken it seems like the drilled Idea seems more pleaseing and less complicated / question about the incoming water from the sump.... can a person just run water from pvc into a drilled hole with a bulkhead? or is it better to use a spray bar... as seen on the nano tank Thanks for your help
