  1. Alright thanks, I heard these mentioned here both but didn't think they were so much lighter then the playsand I used in my 90 gallon I probally end up with the sand blasting sort
  2. I am hoping to redo the 60 gallon into a puffer tank, and wanted a light colored or white sand sunstrate jsut wandering about some alternatives to the petstore stock that might be hideing around the town or some type to look out for. thanks
  3. I'll say he is definately only dancing whether for some females or just showing who's boss nothing to worry about
  4. I really don't know exactly what I'm thinking of but I've heard of it... Basically I want to seal in the tanins so they don't discolor the watter or mess with the ph, what specifically do I use for this? and how is it applied?
  5. Youve been snitched on albert I've hit that report button at least 20 times now, the police are on to you, theres no escape
  6. most plecos are ilegal over there would make more sense
  7. Before my male, would bring the female back to his cave do a full circle then attack his reflection following it halfway up the glass, but they still make babies so obviously he can concentrate when need be
  8. Thanks everyone There are three bug goldfish in there now and four of there larger fry, eventually ten more fry will go in but they are a little small, it's really amazing how much more intresting goldfish are in a pond over a fish tank Eventually watter will run through the pump and return to the pond we have the hoseing but want a bucket or waterfall from there to the pond Looks much better in that pic, you can't see the bottom anymore because of watter algae but we will be adding a UV, there is also a pelican, a lighthouse and an angel ornament around there now don't know why technically it's my dads pond but what's his is mine
  9. From the whole international forums things, australia has very strict laws about legal aquarium fish, these wouldn't be legal and therefore will fetch a nice price Is that synodontis agelicus in the pic?
  10. Hi, today we bought a uv filter for 200$ I'm wandering if this is too good too be true? 200 seems fantastic similar product is almost 500 at pisces but also for a much larger pond, however uv alone is about 200 dollars there so I want to know what anyone thinks It is a pressurized beckett 9 watt uv filter for ponds up to 750 gallons (mines just over 300gallons) "Efficient, dual action filtration for clean, clear ponds Includes UV clarifier Out of pond installation for fast, easy maintenance Pressureized discharge allows for "upflow" to watter fall" Still needs pump so + 60 And it is setup like a canister filter except the top half is empty minus the uv, witht eh bottom half working three sponges coarse to fine then bioballs I'm likeing this thing but it won't be setup untill I have soem peace of mind about it
  11. We just bought the types mentioned by hosstile for 4 or 5 dollars at pisces pet emporium they have lot's of other kinds of plants as well I think your best bet is too check them out, unless your thinking what hosstiles giving
  12. on our 60 gallon we have a ugf ac 200 and fluval 203, I also used a UGF and ac200 on my ten gallon for a while. I would highly recomend that you don't add a ugf if you already have a hob your just makeing more work for yourdself and an inevitably dirtier tank, for the same reasons that they always suck. The tank looks clean but the gravel is disgusting, and don't even look under the plate, also most people don't relize this but UGFs need more maintenance then any other filter do this by gravel vacing. I see no reason to use the ugf with the hob, I tto the hob out of the 10 gallon tank, and now that it is on the 60gallon with ugf, all the air tubes have come off the filter plates except one (of four) and i have not been replaceing them,
  13. I used rona playsand in my tank it takes alot of work to clean but worked out quite nicvely since, however it is mixed with african cichlid gravel which makes an intresting look that I kind of like although th general consensus seems to be against the mixed look, It is also damn hard to clean I can't really get any poop off of it so am considering adding a powerhead system and sontinueing my excesive watter changes. Something else when I was looking for sand talking to a guy at crowfoot petland, they have used a couple different types of sand in their tanks and the cheap stuff we all look at, the rona and totem kind of stuff, might be a good place to check out see how you like the looks of it in a tank
  14. I'd like to see how yours turned out too
  15. Yeah this was quoted on the website in hosstiles link that's where I got it from but have figured it is called mostly columnaris, I put marcyn in today and will pick up marcyn two tommorow, just wasn't sure if I could mix them before when I first went to the store Thankyou all very much, the link is very good hosstile She also moved about half a foot though still on her side despite the new problem flexibacter she is definately looking better
  16. Jardini arrowna six inches at pisces 89$ you definately got a deal
  17. She has just developed what seems to be some sort of fungus, but it is different then in most pictures instead of a large white fuzzy spots, it seems discolored and fuzzy on over half it's body, If i were to gues I'd say fungus but then it is very different, I need an ID and some treatment Info please
  18. Alright thanks, I'm going to give her alot of time theres not much current in the tank and it should be familiar to her so shes in a good place, I don't want to euthanize for a while I almost did to a goldfish sunday and left it another couple hours it was swimming around as if nothing had happen though I would of sworn it's swimm bladder was killed
  19. I just had an emergency post yesterday too but... Story I placed my female maylandia lombardoi (kennyi mbuna) back in the main tank yesterday, she had just bred and I ended up loseing most of the fry think she ate them left her in with em too long, but I placed her back in the new tank and everything seemed fine. There was the normal fighting a little with the larger female, and a little with the two males, and a couple territorial disputes, just like last time she was reintroduced, This morning things were a lttle different caught her breeding with the other male not her usual mate(for some reason the lombardoi had actually seemed to pair for a little), and when I came home from school couln't find her. Gave her some time a couple hours fed the fish to coax her out and she didn't come so I tore the tank apart looking for her which is alot more work then you'd think. Find her lieing upside down in a tiny crevice, and pretty mch thought she was dead, but then caught a small sign of life and for half an hour tried to get her out of the crevice Emergency Info she is upside down in the ten gallon tank shredded fins, slight movements (rare fiveminutesish), and sliight gill movement anything I can do, definately one of my favourite fish I need to know what I can do to save her. I have added salt but anythingelse is apreciated please help thankyou
  20. If the fluval quick connects break definately replace with the ehiem part too I've broken two fluvals on my 403 and no ehiems, I use a hose from my hagen gravel vac to prime mine stick it in the out tube and start a syphon going then turn it on
  21. It's like he has one of each surgeon fish
  22. Since noone else mentioned it a 25 gallon is to small especially a 25 tall, 30 is usually considered minimum for mbuna, and for more agresive species lombardoi, or auratus a 55 gallon minimum
