  1. There is always Cories at the ACE auctions
  2. I'll give you a microworm culture. If you think that your pair will commit infanticide if you try to take the others out try: a) catching the non-breeding fish out after the lights have gone out for a while or slip a tank divider in the tank that keeps the non-breeding fish away from the parents
  3. Something you won't find in moss... a rolling stone
  4. Actually Edmonton's application forms are only 1 page for the Calgary club members ( along with the usual police checks). We tried the long forms and discovered (not surprisingly) that most of the Calgary members needed scribes to fill out the forms for them. Due to the nasty flooding in the south we've waived the forms this year. Yup, just doing our bit to make the world a better place.
  5. IMHE, displaying male guppies tend to get the aggression factor going with Bettas, and it doesn't take long for the Betta to assert themselves. This usually doesn't end well for the male guppy.
  6. Doesn't sound like anyone has any experience in this situation. I have no experience with the shrimp/Cories but I can't see the adult Cories eating the adult shrimp, and I wouldn't trust them with any baby shrimp. Sounds like you may be the pioneer in this, let us know how it goes.
  7. The only Cories you definitely can't put in with your shrimp are Corydoras eatallyourfreakinshrimpus. This is a very rare Corydoradinae species known to raid Red Lobster locations in South America during the flooding of the wet season. Apparently they prefer the garlic fried version. I hope this helps.
  8. Dither fish that swim above them in schools really help with their skittishness. Silver dollar-type tetras are a prime example.
  9. Interesting...doesn't look like those fish are missing any meals
  10. Nannacara anomala for sure
  11. Are they available in Calgary?
  12. Duplicareus are slightly bigger then the midnights
  13. The only concern I would have for him in the 150 would be if he was getting any food. If he can't compete with the other fish then maybe consider feeding him at night when the lights are out.
  14. Keep that line pure. Really good variatus are hard to find!
  15. So what's your address again? Nice try! Like my avatar says, Edmonton & area. You can start there. :P
  16. I picked up one of the ZooMed donation grab bags and one of those air powered HOB filters. Oh yea, my ticket got drawn for that gorgeous Brian Walsh carving. Wohoo!!!
  17. Good for you for saving him. If I'd seen this fish I would not have let him be auctioned, and would have had a chat with the seller. They are super hardy and so I think that he will survive. Hopefully his whiskers will grow back, but that is tough to speculate. As for more, they are very rarely imported anymore, so your chances of obtaining some more aren't good. So if you get a chance to get more jump on it.
  18. For those who may have missed it, Anton's Friday evening talk on Tanzania was excellent. Be sure to come tomorrow to hear some more interesting talks relating to different aspects of our hobby.
  19. Now now, let's not fight over them.... hmmm.... OK let's!
  20. I'm going to be very busy, but I'll try to bring some rarer Corydoras, maybe some Ancistrus claro, and other goodies.
  21. I wonder if Jim Henson got started the same way?
  22. Yes my falsetto is "spinetingling?". Probably a direct result of 27 years of imprisonment, oops I meant marriage.
