  1. I'm runnin the hagen "glo HOT5s" on my saltwater tank and have been very happily surprised.
  2. 13 was all I managed to save. I moved last month and about a week before I moved the tank I noticed the wigglers. It was a 75g gallon tank so I had to remove all the gravel to move it. And its kinda hard to justify to your help that they need to wait for you to try and vacuum up all of the little buggers, who by the time all the rock work was dismantled were bunkered down in the gravel. Oh well I think ma & pa are at it again in the display, so there will probably be more shortly.
  3. Here is a shot or two of me & the only pic worthy eye we caught.
  4. Well here are couple shots of my now 2 month old cylindricus fry. Hard to get the cam to focus on something this small.
  5. I know what you mean with the pics. Congrats though.
  6. Nice... I love cyps.
  7. Cant beat the action out in front of the free provincial boat launch on the west side of the lake. Just look for the huge crowd of boats all anchored up and jiggin eyes. Was just there yesterday and as usual Pigeon lived up to itself...bigtime. Long drive though.
  8. That is one beautiful fish! I think I read somewhere that you could do 1 dwarf lionfish in a 20g. IF that was the only fish and the tank was sparsely decorated. But really SHOULD in something a little roomier.
  9. I dont know.... I have a 20g and a 27g that I have moved several times half full of water. Maybe I'm just lucky.
  10. Great shots bud. Love your planted tank. Thats an interesting mix in your cichlid tank. How are they all getting along. Alot of cichlids freeks would flame you for mixing but I say if it makes you happy and there are no aggression issues then got for it.
  11. Lookin really good. Are you runnin the stock lighting on your BC? Looks like you made a trip to Red Coral in Cowtown. Am I right? Sweet rics.
  12. For fw, golds, elite, pisces, francos. . If your lookin for a mantis shrimp try to contact Colby @ Elite, I dont think he has any atm but if you get a hold of him early enough he may be able to get one in for you.He actually had one that he was hand feeding for a while!Could try Golds for the shrimp too. Hope you enjoy your visit to Cowtown
  13. You can use most of your stuff. With the exception perhaps of your lighting. But that will depend on what you are planning to do with your salty tank. If a fish only tank is what you want to do then your light will probably do. But if you want to keep corals and fish then an upgrade will be in order. Generally three choices, metal halide, T5HO, or power compact. Reef tanks require at least 4 or 5 watts per gallon. Thats the rule of thumb anyway. Colby @ Elite Aquatics is a good guy and will help you with what you NEED and not push anything on you.Hope this helps.
  14. IME, sae's can be quite aggressive. I had them in with africans(tangs) and finally had to get rid of them when they got to be around 5" because they were pushing around my cichlids.
  15. man, I cant believe that no one here is interested in picking up some frags, or trimming back some of thier colonies.....bump
  16. Ok here is the scoop . There was a frag swap party posted on another web site in Calgary for the 7th of July. The original host cancelled and I decided to host it. I'm thinking the new date will be the 14th of July( could be the 8th, Will know for sure on Monday). The following is the original thread I posted on the other site. If anyone here would like to come please post in this thread your RSVP and what you may have available to trade. Ok was really bummed when I read that the original frag party was canceled, so I figured I'd ante up and host it. A couple things would need to change though. A good friend of mine couldn't make the July 7 date so I want to bump it to the following w/e( July 14). And instead of asking for a frag for an admission I thought I would just ask all who wanted to attend to bring me $5 to help cover the cost of burgers, salads and munchies. The party would still be BYOB. Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can spend the evening outside , in which case I'm hoping someone could also offer to bring some lawn chairs or something to that effect. I'm really hoping that everyone that originally posted can make the new date. So if this sounds good please post in this thread if you will be coming. I really need a solid count on who is coming so I no how much food to prepare so RSVP please. Also perhaps now that it is a bit closer to the actual date people could have a better idea of what they might have available to swap and can post that too. I dont know bout you all but I hope that enough people respond so that we can keep this frag party/swap afloat. BTW if it makes a difference I'm in the wildwood area of the SW, sarcee and bow.
  17. I say leave the old filter on. I allways overfilter my tanks. If there is such a thing.
  18. Ya shark my thoughts exactly. Her man has a kick a$$ SW tank too ,not to mention the dozen or so beautiful FW tanks she has goin. My compliments to the fish mistress.
  19. Great job Shaye. I've always liked discus but have never kept them. How are the shellies doin btw.
  20. If the fry are free swimming then you will probably be ok. Plecos have been known to eat eggs though. More of an issue in a tank where the mother wont kick the crap out of the pleco. I have plecos of some flavor in all my freshwater tanks( mostly cichlids) and have raised many broods from different fish.
  21. Mmmmmm 90gs would make a schweet reef man! Nudge nudge.
  22. OMG someone else with some salty pics. Great shots Connie. Is that your tank or your man's? Oh btw the light works just fine turns out it was the bulbs. I meant to pm you about it and forgot.
