  1. Nice discus! How many in total does that make for you?
  2. Ahh man, I think you were just waiting for the video in order to sell it! I should have waited longer... Good luck with the sale. I am glad to have seen it in operation.
  3. Welcome! Where in the UK are you from?
  4. After a lot of major compression/uploading hassles, I finally got a very compressed version of the video of Jason's tank. The DVD version of this footage is stunning, but this will have to do for now. Enjoy!
  5. My guess would be Protomelas sp. "Spilonotus Tanzania".
  6. I agree that going through members is the best option for you, but if that doesn't pan out and you are looking for africans, I would say you are better off waiting until there is a spencer jack group order rather than going for local stores. I have ordered twice from him and have been very impressed with prices and quality.
  7. 23. Always have thermometers in your tanks and always check them when you are doing feedings. I had a heater get stuck on the "heat" position tonight, but I was thankfully able to catch it because I noticed the temperature was running a bit on the hot side. I think by tomorrow morning it would have been cooked fish!
  8. Great shots! Rainbows are such a wonderful fish, as are the rams.

    Frasier

    Sorry to hear that.
  10. Continuing evidence of your photographic talent. Well done, Patrick!
  11. They were fighting again last night! I appears to be the same male winning, but gosh it's hard to tell which is which. Update: I added a Eheim 2217 to the tank. I'll have it on the tank for a month before I take the Cascade 1200 off.
  12. Update: I added a Koralia 4 powerhead to improve the water movement in the tank. This is my first Koralia powerhead and I impressed with the amount of waterflow and the lack of noise.
  13. When I kept SA/CAs I had tinfoils and they were great. Very fast, especially when they have a tank with a lot of room. They were also interesting to watch as they rubbed against each other in either a mating ritual or some sort of male dominance act. Either way, very cool!
  14. Yeah, that's been my experience. I bought mine at 3.5 inches and they are up to about 4.5 inches right now. They are a nice fish, so they are worth the wait.
  15. Yeah, I tried out the multiple algae wafers last night. I threw 6 and I had 6 fish doing the football thing, lol. I find now that I have just stuck my hand in to drop the pellets on the bottom, the synos come out more to see me when I walk into the room. I haven't tried zuchini yet. Once we buy some for us, the fish will get some. Can't have the fish eating more fruits and vegetables than the humans!
  16. Thanks for tip, Boom. Unfortunately, I have a 6 inch sandiver, a 6 six inch fusco, a 5 inch yellow fin and a 4 inch spilonatus that have decided that algae wafers are their individual meals. They grab them as they are falling down and swim around the tank with them. I'll try throwing in a few more to get a couple down to the synos to see the show.
  17. Duboisi should be the cheapest as they are the most common. I paid $10 for kiriza juvies and $12 for chimba juvies. The Kiriza were from a hobbiest and they were at least 1.5 inches and the chimba were from Spencer Jack and were closer to 1-1.25 inches. I saw on the last order from Spencer Jack that Kirizas were going for $14.50 per fish. When you are buying 20-30 fish, a couple of bucks per fish can add up!
  18. Welcome to our community!
  19. Nice pics! What type of camera are you using?
