This board is a good source of local people. For something international there is the American Cichlid Association. www.cichlid.org. They have a big convention in July every year that ends with a giant auction. In 2014 it will be in Louisville and there are a couple of us from Edmonton that are planning to go.

Our next meeting is Tuesday December 3, 2013 We have invited Dr. Peter L. Hurd from the University of Alberta to speak. His topic will be "Cichlids the short-cut to understanding the biological basis of personality" We will have our Christmas pot luck too. Place: Allendale Community Hall 6330-105 A St Time: 7:30pm

This is what I currently keep with some of my shrimps: bristlenose plecos in with cherry type - both breed readily panda loaches, stiphodon gobies, cobra endlers - the endlers are breeding and so are the shrimp I have some wild type mollies with some red claw macrobrachium shrimp, so far the shrimp are breeding, the mollies not so much (maybe time to move the mollies)

The rams will be ok with the corys.

They are ok with other snails. Mine don't bother my ramshorns or sulawesi snails.

Aqua clears are one of the best hob filters out there.

I'm culturing some in a 5 gallon tank, toss in algae wafers to feed them and they keep going. I definitely don't get enough to feed all the fish tanks and maintain population. Tuan over at Aquarium Central also has them for sale, he keeps them in one of his tanks as well although I think his does better as well, maybe its the constant water changes that happen where I change when I remember.

Congrats, Now you need to put in a spawning mop or lots of moss for them to put the eggs on.
