    Hello All

Hello All I have just gotten in to this hobby/addiction about 4 months ago with a 30 gallon tank and some tetra's and have move up to 4 tanks running, all fw, from arrowana's to mollies. I do enjoy sports and play a bunch all year round. I am one of those rare lost flames fans in edmonton that love to go watch the oilers loose but seeing that is so common now adays it has got very boring. ALberta born and raised and very proud of our province. I am a sheetmetal installer aka furnace and air conditioning installer and have been for the last 12 yrs. (ya i have cut myself lots. around 30+ stiches so far). feel free to pm me about any furnace problems that have or questions about different brands. never shy on shedding my opinion on anything. have enjoyed this forum for the last month or so and hope to enjoy it more for years to come. thanks to all that answer questions and supply knowledge about fish and equiptment that helps n00bs like us get into this hobby. Tom
  14. http://www.progressive-growth.com/ph-digit...pens_meters.php more then likely you will need a digital to go lower then 6 why so acidic????
  15. i got the t5 and works well for fw plants too, brightens the tank up alot but make it sits high enough off tank can add heat
  16. they are a great looking fish but it is too bad they dont come out during the day/lights. i haven't seen mine in a week
  17. Well, let the fun begin. Got my tank inside. oh what a joy. but i am about to do a pic by pic post of my setup on the details on everything involved to get this tank up and running. Est. time is about 3-4 weeks depending on the time i have but am excited and eager to get it going so maybe less. depending on how long it takes for the stand to get built. But let the fun begin. heres the tank in the spare bedroom for now. 72"X24"X30"
  18. i got a basement for your brother to do the finishing on lol j/k nice stand
  19. Hey Tom, Glad you had a chance to see Gold's and Riverfronts in Calgary. Two of my fav LFS to visit while in Calgary. Look forward to hearing about your new tank set up, lemme know how it goes. Allan dont worry, tommorow i start my picture by picture post on everything that is going to be involved with it. i wish i got a chance to hit up pisces but ran out of time, heard they got a great plant selection, and heard good things about red coral too those were the two we missed but he will be heading there in a couple of weeks
  20. I would just like that thank and share the great experience a friend and i had in calgary today. We went down to calgary for 3 reasons. 1. to get my 225gal tank from zylum. thanks again and am pumped to get it up and running asap  2. for a friend to put a deposit on a custom made tank. thanks to Ocean city and to ON for working out a great price and great ideas for a salt water setup. my friend was very pleased leaving the store and is excited to get his tank in 3 weeks 3. To look at the fish stores in calgary. Unfortunatly we did not have time to reach all the stores we had heard about but i will tell you the ones we got too. Gold's aquarium. great knowledge and wide variety on fw and sw fish, too bad he wouldn't sell me that sturgeon lol Riverfront aquariums. like to especially thank dave for his great wealth of knowledge and great explanations of different questions we fired at him during are time there. And that pacu is doing great if you read this. settled in nice after a few minutes and made the 3 1/2 hr trip really well. Ocean city. strictly saltwater but is a great store for you bitter water freaks out there lol but i will stick to my freshwater setups. we will planning on hitting the other stores when we goto pick up the tank in 3 weeks and hoping to have the same experience as i have heard great things about the other stores that we did not have a chance to get into. this is not a slandering post against any store in alberta that i have been to but due to the time that we took in i would like to share this with other people so that they can have the same great time that i did especially if they are making that boring drive down highway 2 (no i will not call it queen elizebeth 2) Thanks again Tom
  21. should invite you over for beer and help me setup my 225gal that i am getting sunday
  22. i only got a 78 gal going right now. getting tank on sunday. i am guessing that it will take me about 2-3 months to get it going. might try fishless cycle to get it setup instead of mixing my 78 gal water in tank but havn't decided yet but i do plan on moving my sponge filters and biowheel for the first couple weeks till i know that it is for surely setup right biologically. but the reasoning behind this thread is that i want a tank that i dont need to do as much maintence on it. i will be doing a picture by picture post of everything that i do to get this up and running. including all the tim hortons coffee and the beer consumed  :drunk: -roll-
  23. i am about to start a 225 gal freshwater setup with a sump and was wondering if anyone had any input or ideas on how to make this work better then i have planned my ideas are tank comes with an overflow 1- aquaclear 110 500 gph 1- marineland 280 bio wheel- 280 gph 1- rena xp3 canister 350 gph atleast the cannister and one of the hob filters (maybe) 30 gallon sump with bio filters and rings and a powerhead that i think i will make myself to act as a slow soft river current for my cichlids and arrowana please comment on anything you do and DO NOT like about this setup as this is by far my biggest tank and will be my biggest challenge when it comes to fish tank setups
  24. nice pic and glad to see even the fish agree with this website
