    T12 or T8

Don't be fool by the wattage. T8 generate more light and use less electricity than T12. T8 is definitely a better choice.
  2. There is no need to unplug your CO2. As long as you are bubbling, most of the CO2 will be bubbled out.

    Stupid fish

Kevin, Your EBJD is a beautiful fish. I hope it all works out. I read that puffer keeper use clover oil to tranquilize the fish before they trim their beak. Just wondering if it is recommended to use clover oil for other fish. Sounds like a good idea to put the fish to sleep first before you do something traumatic.

    Tetra Tank

They post the special on the web. You can check it on Friday morning. http://www.piscespets.com/Specials.html
  5. Is there a shelf live for activated carbon? Wouldn't it absorp whatever is in the air and render it useless over time?
  6. I am not so sure about MTS. They have rather hard shell. They may get jam in the rotor housing and burnt out your motor.
  7. Pisces advertised 'signal tetra' on sales this weekend. I did google and can't find any info on it. Just wondering if anyone know what is a signal tetra?

    Fluval FX5

Yes they do, it is included in the price.
  9. Yeah, the eggs are all gone. They are not guarding anything any more, it is a signed that there is no fry. I think the other female is ready to spawn too. I will give them a few more try before I move them to a separate tank.
  10. The female ram I got from Kevin 10 days ago is laying eggs and the pair is guarding it and fanning it. Thanks you Kevin The strange thing is the eggs is on a leave high up near the top of the tank instead of on the substrate like most article I read. My question is should I move the eggs to a 10G or would it be better not to disturb it. The fishes are in a 72G planted tank, with a dozen of rainbows, 5 Columbia tetra and 5 Congo tetra. And the eggs is on the super heavily planted end where the rainbow & the congo can even squeeze in.
  11. Try put the python in fill mode and fill the hose with water first. Make sure there is no air in the hose, then switch it to siphon mode.
  12. It is not unusual to loss a few fish during salt treatment. It all depends on how advance the ick problem is. I would try a 50% WC and keep the temperature @ 85F and see if things improve, just in case you put too much salt in. You suppose to half the dosage when you have loaches. Don't forget to increase aeration. Good luck.
  13. My amecas would peck at the rainbow, which is multiple times bigger than them. And leave the swordtail, platies, clown loach alone. YMMV

    Screw in CFs

Home Depot in Calgary carry the daylight CF. Probably carry the same thing in Edmonton.
  17. The best place to buy plant is from the plant guru - Garhan :bang1:
  18. I haven't seen the unit up close. But wouldn't blocking the side reduce water circulation which in turn reduce the CO2 absorption rate into the water?
  19. I 2nd Milan. There is no need to activate. I don't even measure the temperature. As long as it is not too hot that kills off the yeast. Sooner or later, as in within a couple of hours, it should start working. I will check for leakage or blockage. Try squeeze the bottle a little to see if any bubble come out at the other end.
  20. I don't even care if the sugar dissolved or not. They will dissolve into the water as the sugar level in the water decrease.
  21. A majority of your selection live in the bottom of the tank. Even if you can maintain the water quality, I am afraid it is getting a little too crowded in the bottom.
  22. I have a similar experience when I get too focus about increasing CO2 in the tank. By not disturbing the water surface, I managed to starve the fish from O2. The fish is fine after w/c. Then slowly lost apetite, swimming at the top, ...etc as the days go by. W/C on the weekend and things will be back to normal. Now I fed room air into a DIY CO2 power reactor and fish are fine and plants are bubbling. Happy plant, happy fish.
  23. Milan, Just curious what is the before & after CO2 reading?
