  1. Looking good. Thanks for the hard work.
  2. Here is a link to their weekly specials. http://www.piscespets.com/Specials.html
  3. Doesn't work for me either (need to login).
  4. There are two factors. First is quantity. How much light (lumens) is entering your aquarium - assume your old light had two tubes, you have just doubled your lumens - from what I read, with a regular fluroscent, only about 40% of the light end up in your aquarium (50% go up and another 10% reflect off the surface). With a good reflector, you can get to 90%. A halogen light has a built-in reflector, meaning you are getting more than 40%. - age of the tube. according to the specs on Philip's web site. The light output reduce by about 10% when the tube is close to end of life. Not a lot, but it adds up. Second is quality of the light. - the spectrum produce by halogen is a whole lot closer to sun light compare to the regular warm/cool white tube that is common in fluroscent. And I second Garhan, T5 with daylight tube and a good reflector would be my 1st choice of lighting for plant. Energy efficient (high lumens/watt), good spectrum and not as hot as other alternatives.
  5. What kind of lighting do you have when your plant is not as green and as straight?
  6. According to this web page, http://www.elflist.com/article10_halo.htm, a 300 Watt T3 put out roughly 6000 lumens. That would be roughly 2 40 Watt fluorescent T12.
  7. Milan, If you find a cheaper source of TE, please let me know. I checked the other hydroponics shop on 1204 Edmonton Tr, their price is even more crazy.
  8. Milan, The chemicals are described in the Colin/Sears article that is pinned by Garhan.
  9. Milan, Here is an email I got from them when I inquiry a few months ago. Get the 50gm bag trace element. 500 grm is way too much. 1 kg of the other chemical is a lot too, but that is how they sell it. Hello, Here is the pricing for your inquiry: * K2SO4 (potassium sulfate), : $4.95 / kg * KNO3 (potassium nitrate), : $4.95 / kg * MGSO4 (Epsom salt), : $3.50 / kg Chelate Trace element (Fe 7%, B 1.3%, Mn 2%, Zn 0.4%, Cu 0.1%, Mo 0.06%) : 50 gm / $3.50 or 500 gm / $35.00 All pricing is subject to GST.
  10. You can get dry fertilizer from Bumper-Crop Organic Garden Store 3928 Edmonton Trail NE 276-1345
  11. I have one BN pleco in my 72 gallon. I didn't appreciate how good a job it did until I moved it to another tank. I need another one. If anyone know where they are on sales, let me know.
  12. Thanks everyone. Sounds like my best bet right now would be liquid fry food. Garhan, do you know where I can get a starter culture of microworm?
  13. I found one tiny tiny fish in my QT tank this evening and the last batch of fish that went through the tank is 4 columbian tetra. So I would assume that the tiny creature is a tetra. What should I feed this cute little baby. The smallest food I have is brine shrimp, but this fry is not that much bigger than a brine shrimp. It is about 3mm long and it's body is like a silver sliver.
  14. I would remove the mother even though they are suppose to leave the fry alone. You don't really need that many fish in the tiny trap.
  15. I have very good luck with my UGF. I have goldfish in a 72G tank with UGF driven by two 201. I used 5mm+ gravel and the larger gravel size don't seem to have the plug up problem that other people reported. I have it for 15+ years without complete overhaul. It is very low maintenance. YMMV
  16. Yes, I have UGF for my gold fish tank and I don't use HOB. The UGF alone keep the tank crystal clear.
  17. WC may be a challenge when the two 10G are so close to the ground.
  18. The address from mytelus.com is 2610 Centre Street Northeast. 277-7207.
  19. Check Rona also. If memory serve me, they have T4 that is close to the 30" length.
  20. The number 5 refers to the diameter of the tube. The common sizes are 5, 8 & 12. If you replace your 12 with 5, you should be able to fit a whole lot more in the same space.
  21. Anyone know where to find the Liipons or Osmocote tablets that is mention in the article?
  22. On Sat, I saw a few small one (less than 1/2 inch) at Riverfront. It is $3.99 each.
  23. I brought my 72G used from a LFS over 15 years ago. Still works. Never has a need to redo the silicone. YMMV.
  24. I have an old Tronic heater that has water vapour inside the glass. Just wondering 1) is it safe to use it 2) can I submerge it, would that only encourage more leaking into the glass Thanks in advance.

    Hi folks

And talk about baby. My balloon molly is giving birth as we speak. I quickly put it into the breeding net when I saw something sticking out of her behind. Kids are at home for Easter break and they are jumping with joy watching the mother fish gives birth. Can't get a good picture with the net in the way I have green tiger barb that help control the population too.
